Sigh. We build machines to automate the repetitive, to eliminate the daily drudgery and to repeat steps with perfection (that we would repeat with perfection ourselves if only we were as focused as a machone). So why do we keep finding ours

Is this really a new space station? Or do they plan to somehow build off the current ISS? The article leaves a lot of questions. It seems the Russians had plans to re-use their ISS modules? Can they just take them back like that?

This deserves a closer look. It appears to be making use of the ORC format used in Hive, and last I looked was implemented in Java and tied in tight with the Hive arch. So this must be a rewrite of an ORC reader/writer. Selfishly I wis

Thanks for that link. Very neat how towards the end of the video a Russian rocket booster travels across the frame from right to left. An unintended sighting of some well know space-junk!

The article doesn't give a good indication of scale. Is this simmilar in size to a Forman grille? Also where do the juices and fats run off? Do they just collect on the cook surface?

This is really cool engineering. It would seem that if you could normalize, threshold and bucket continuous data than it too would be available for indexing. So while extending his to the entire range of real numbers would not be practical,

The article didn't directly address private v. Public education, but rather that our teacher preparation methods are crap. You may be able to argue those who graduate from the best programs for creating educators may be skimmed off the

But wouldn't a plateu in performance also cause a plateu in record setting? I suppose if it proves that records continue to be broken without gains in performance than random chance is likely at play. An aside, thanks for the EVT refer

The example from the article regarding the Track & Field results might imply otherwise. Would random chance be able to exhibit a performance curve which begins to plateau?

You have the general topology right, but not all nodes necessarily have to be agents. You could, forinstance, run an agent next to a bind server and delegate the .consul. Zone to it. That way for nodes which only use DNS for discovery can w

So does this mean that the primes actually distribute based on some pseudo random pattern? Certainly that is trivializing things but is this what the notion of the numbers acting random, but clearly not being random implies?

Won't this approach increase the cap-ex investment on the part of the customer, and the complexity to scaling? Do you require the customer to size their key services to some theoretical peak, or can you offload so much of the process t

It would be useful if the guide folded the Unix/Windows examples up into a single view (something like what the Spark docs do: https://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/quick-start.html#Basics ) And then, perhaps,
