You can use GKE with a single node if it's big enough (it won't let you do it with the absolute smallest instance). I do it because I just like the k8s model for deploying apps. If any of my sideprojects deployed there ever start

I think I'd rather give people welfare via taxes than forcing businesses to do it directly.

This post just seems like it's trying to class-up a screw-you to their users. I'd prefer people just keep it crude like this rather than try to make it sound like it's somehow a nice thing to do.

what about uber/lyft is worse for the roads than taxis?

by cgag 9y ago
I mostly care about it just being too crowded and shitty rather than people starving.

Big +1 on loading animations making everything feel much slower.

Ive actually seen people take pain killers for being sore from working out as you mentioned. It's mind blowing.

I found it very appealing. I loved the bit that was something like: we're professionals working together, a sports team, not a family.

Yeah it's gross here too but at least all the "hate speech isn't free speech" signs here are wrong from a legal perspective. I also also don't like the nazi exception.

Actual hate speech laws, laws against holocaust denial, getting arrested for saying offensive things on twitter, that kind of thing.

Yeah the recent anti free speech movement and fall of free speech in Europe has given me a much greater appreciation for America than I used to have.

You could counter game it by not overbooking. Or start at like 10k and auction down.

Sounds more like good schools happen to be white schools in a lot of places. Doesn't seem like code to me.

I might be ok with overbooking if they got rid of involuntary bumping and had to auction off being bumped until someone accepted the price.

You probably can't go to their house and pour water in their electronics and tell them they'll get a full refund if they ship it back to you.

by cgag 10y ago
You can't really break someone's shit and tell them you'll give them a refund once they ship it back to you. Or at least you shouldn't be able to without being liable to be sued.

It's a real person who gave you real money and is wasting their time with the defective product sold to them as well.

It's not like putting the code on one line. It's like complaining about using map instead of a for loop but you don't know the abstractions. There's a line of too much abstraction, and lots of.haskell code crossed it, b

Is there an EA job board somewhere? Maybe people aren't interested due to pay, but I doubt many people are aware the jobs exist in the first place. I was under the impression it was a small pool of applicants but a much smaller pool o

I use entr all the time. I usually do something like piping go files to entry to run a script to build and run my app or tests. Much simpler than most tools I've seen like it.
