The Windows team made a huge investment in HTML & Javascript. You could even say they bet on developers using that over XAML/C#. Looking at the apps in the Store though, and talking to insiders, and the picture is clear that over 80% of

I pulled Source Code Pro out of brackets a few weeks ago and loved it in Sublime, VS, and ConEMU on Windows and iTerm2 on the Mac. Then someone pointed me at Envy Code R [1]... I find it much more pleasing with the benefit of great differe

The issue I have with Dyson Sphere's is in 1960 the idea of the singularity hadn't really been floated. I think it is far more likely that civilizations either die or upload.

Even if Mark’s view is correct (debatable), the only way HTML5 will ever ‘get there’ is if the developer community continues to build apps on HTML5 that push the boundaries of performance. The presumption that the developer community can

Mono is now backed by Xamarin. They got something like 12M in VC funding this summer and appear to be on fire. From what I've seen, the future of cross platform .NET looks great.

I'm willing to bet MS has built runtime type support into the Chakra VM. The question is whether they will do it in a propitiatory way or push it as an extension of ECMAScript and try to get other VMs to implement it.

Say what you want about whether this is a good idea or not, it is clear at least part of MS is really serious about open source. * TypeScript is under the Apache 2.0 license [1] * Source is available via git on Codeplex [2] * Installation i

What an outrageous thing to say! This guy stole the iPad. Period. You also seem to be implying that his "mistake" was taking something easy to track. Wow.

The issue for the Samsungs and HTCs of the world is they don't really have the other assets that Amazon has. Thus they are less able/willing to turn down things like access to Google Play and Search.

It is never a good idea to pay developers to support a platform [1]. I struggle to find a single proof point of a successful platform where early dev adoption was kickstarted by the provider paying for apps. All that paying for apps does i
