>On April 16, we added a system prompt instruction to reduce verbosity In practice I understand this would be difficult but I feel like the system prompt should be versioned alongside the model. Changing the system prompt out from undern

Thanks. Yeah, I've probably been overcomplicating it before. I was running Kubernetes on Talos thinking that at least it would be familiar. Such power tools for running simple workloads on a single node is inviting headaches.

The idea of a homelab is appealing to me, but then I actually start building one and get tired of it quickly. When I’ve been fixing broken systems at work all day I don’t really want to have to be my own sysadmin too. I’ve got a nice and po

IIRC Snowden said the same in his biography - that the NSA had a bro culture and they abused their powers to obtain compromising images and texts (often sexual) and share them around. If you're going to use technology to illegally spy

Sounds like overkill. Quantum is a premature concern, but if there’s really that much paranoia why not use PQC like ML-KEM instead of rolling this strange thing?

I wonder if there's a strategy behind all of this on China's side. I know the CCP uses a direct hand in many affairs in China, but is there an actual coordinated effort to compete with, or sabotage the West?

Even the smaller quantized models which can run on consumer hardware pack in an almost unfathomable amount of knowledge. I don't think I expected to be able to run a 'local Google' in my lifetime before the LLM boom.

Thanks. That architecture lends itself to modding so well you'd think it's intentional.

On the client side how did they do this? I worked with a team reverse engineering another MMO a few years ago and it was because of a plain XML config and game launch args that we could make the client connect to a private server easily wit

The rasterised SVG is just a different representation of the same data. A sufficiently advanced LLM may not need to 'see' the rasterised image to be able to draw a good picture. A human could draw a very basic image through raw SV

It’s not a waste of time. As the boundaries of AI are pushed we increasingly struggle to define what intelligence actually is. It becomes more useful to test what models cannot do instead of what they can. Random tasks like the pelican tes

CEO is one of the least meritocratic jobs ever. It’s all just vibes, and the vibes are based off of what school you went to, who your parents know, where you grew up. Deep down they probably know this hence the insecurity. If it were a meri

OpenAI does identity verification too. I don’t know if they use Persona but they should be considered all equally as invasive.

This is the beginning of AI clouds in my estimation. Cloud services provide needed lock-in and support the push to provide higher level services over the top of models. It just makes sense, they'll never recoup the costs on just infere

It seems the fundamental problem with democracy is that all the wrong people seek power, and the most qualified shy away from it.

Gen Z has a very doomeristic view towards CS careers now due to social media influencers prematurely dismissing CS/software paths as a dead end or impossible to break into because of AI. I know the job market can suck for graduates rig

I haven't looked into the details but I remember from the announcement that the EU cloud is owned specifically by an EU entity headed by EU citizens. There would be no point spinning up a 'sovereign cloud' beholden to the US.

When you're using the SDK, yes it can. Example: I used the Python SDK to translate a bunch of source code recently. I spawned a subagent for each module that needed translating and left it to run for a few hours with a parallelism limi

I had a weird experience at work last week where Claude was just thinking forever about tasks and not actually doing anything. It was unusable. The next day it was fine again.
