I'm not sure what this has to do with the Jacques's piece. Being an expert is orthogonal to people paying you to be an expert is orthogonal to being a "one trick pony". You don't need to be "in the top 0.001%&q

First week/month sales are critical to most media, as I understand it. Being a "best seller" can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Stymieing the impatient pirates is all you can hope to accomplish anyway.

"Visual voicemail" moved me from strong dislike to being mostly OK with it. At most it usually requires tapping my phone twice - open app, play message. Still need to potentially transcribe, I guess, but there's too many peop

Google Maps still does poorly in small towns, as far as I've seen. Not that you can really expect any better. The data in my hometown has clearly never been ground-checked (or even sanity checked by a remote employee), it's all cl

If we're doing anecdotes, of the dozen plus SSDs I've bought for myself or helped other people select/install, I've never had a failure. This includes my ~2008 SuperTalent drive, which still works like it was brand new (

Go look it up - recent patches have had massive increases in CPU and RAM usage not because of new features, but because of making the code prettier. Notch may not be an expert on lighting or chunk rendering, but he's pretty good at wri

Very few organizations use git the way the linux kernel project does. Most organizations use github, gitlab, etc, which definitely have had scaling issues.

More likely just plain mozzarella. In most restaurants, you're likely getting a factory pre-made frozen and reheated product from a box - certainly that was the case at the chain pizza place I worked at in highschool. "Stuffed cru

There are post-college PT players with jobs and other responsibilities that really do only play for 1-1.5 weeks before and during each PT, and maybe a couple GPs. Especially Hall of Famers who don't need to worry about qualifying.

Much as in life, you aren't competing versus the game - you're competing versus the other players. If you only put the minimum amount of work in to level up, you're never going to stand out.
