Part of what icey may be talking about is development; the wide variety of Android hardware does make for a major pain point that doesn't exist in the Apple ecosystem (though with the iPad and the new resolution on the next iPhone, it might

Thank goodness for LeechBlock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4476 It's like noprocrast for everything. (Although I wish they hadn't mangled the UI in the last update.)

Hard to believe the VX Nano is discontinued. I love mine, though not everyone loves the convertible scrollwheel. Hopefully the other models are somewhat comparable.

If G2s are shipping with TRIM firmware, couldn't you just downgrade to a pre-TRIM version if you're so concerned? I don't understand how running Win7 makes you a 'power user fanboy' as opposed to running OSX or Linux. Next time leave the se

Private arbitration as it currently stands in the US is hopelessly broken. There are numerous conflicts of interest for arbiters, all favoring employers. As the article says, arbiters find in favor of employees in 30% of cases at best . I'

As far as I'm aware, TRIM takes care of the performance degradation. Not sure that OSX supports TRIM yet though.

One thing a lot of it may go towards is infrastructure and expansion. I know my alma mater has always had to constantly come up with big new construction projects (new stadium, new academic buildings, new apartments, etc) because they neede

I think I agree. I don't mind even dev builds updating silently, but I would really at least like a notification afterward.

The post you replied to (and the parent article) are talking about garnishment, interest, fees, etc when debt is collected upon. If you ran your credit card up to the limit and did nothing (including doing nothing when you were sued for the

What loss? With interest, fees, etc the debtor ends up paying many times the value of the debt.

I'm quite annoyed when I get a GUI with no keyboard shortcuts; it just doesn't occur to some developers that being able to use the keyboard is what allows advanced users to become very fast at using the software. Full on command line capabi

The insurance offered through my university was certainly terrible. It was very cheap, but there was a reason for that - it provided as little as possible, and made using it as difficult as possible in the hopes you'd just give up and never

What? What does 'TSA security' have to do with some kid saying he wants to visit the US? Can't believe this comment was upvoted.

I never had a problem remembering Dropbox's URL, but that's because it was the somewhat unusual get<whatever>.com rather than a more easily confused .net.

Gee, you're really realistic. When I went out to dinner with my parents, none of the ten people over age 30 could calculate a 20% tip - much less the other way around. Most people just do not do math outside the presence of a calculator, so

Some people are going to be bent on stealing enough that not much is going to stop them. A locked door will stop some people; an unlocked door will stop no one.

Maybe. In my case, it would have definitely made the miscreants move on to the next car. At least if the offender breaks something, insurance will pay for it (if you have insurance), and you have something concrete to file a police report o

Depends on what kind of dealers and where, maybe. Around here, you definitely do not want to be anywhere near dealers. They generally squat in vacant houses, and are usually gang connected, violent, etc.

I agree, WiFi is not going to save Amtrak. It's almost always the worst possible transportation option available in terms of cost, quality, comfort, time, etc - for any and all start and end points, not just NYC/BOS.

PayPal is completely different than a credit card. What you probably should have done, if the PayPal charge was coming off of a credit card, is dispute the PayPal charge with your credit card company.

I bought a G1 SSD for my desktop over a year ago; it was the best single upgrade I've ever made to a desktop machine. When the G2s were released, I put a G2 in my desktop and the G1 in my laptop. Having a SSD in my laptop is great, but the
