I work for a group of venues that recently opened a film screening room that can handle almost all digital formats, 16mm, and 35mm prints. And we in fact ship our prints almost exclusively by FedEx. I had to take a canister to the local sho

Ah, didn't notice the daemon mode only notice. But I suppose I also just wonder if it does the job well? I suppose you only notice once something goes wrong. It just strikes me as a strange thing to be in a server core, but the more I read

Just wait to you get to the part where he suggests that instead of rewriting URIs you should just use the servers cache function to cache to a static page with a very low expiry.

It's not just the site. Even the PDF manual is in this style. "And this test is merely a single-thread test. Add concurrency and SQLite as well as Tokyo Cabinet die in pain because a single write blocks other read/write threads. Not in G-WA

As I'm trying to wade through the manual currently... how does the apparently built in (and perhaps un-configurable?) JS/CSS and auto-spriting/data-uriing work?

From my preliminary read of that page and the linked loan.java, it looks like the java is actually being processed into C code and then complied by the server. Can anyone confirm if this is how the system is architected to "support" java?

Here's a very interesting thread in the forums of the project maintainer refusing (or perhaps denying his ability) to provide an OS X binary: http://forum.gwan.com/index.php?p=/discussion/420/g-wan-on-m... . Perhaps this is a third poin

I think Passbook is actually the star of this upgrade. My phone noticing I walked into a Starbucks and giving me a quick shortcut to bring up that barcode? Brilliant!

You're on the right track, but do be careful of burnout. Get a job out of (or just slightly related) to industry. Work in a local computer repair shop, or even an ice cream shop. In my experience it was hard to find programming gigs that wo

From my understanding, this feature wasn't tied in to any sort of advertising or nefarious information gathering, it was just a poor/insecure implementation of a vaguely convenient idea.

I'd say that a lot of the vegetarian food community is leaning towards that! Morningstar Veggie Patties (my favorite "faux-meat") doesn't taste like meat, nor does it really try to. It tastes like a tasty patty of mushrooms and veggies (and

This is what Facebook's utility for all of us is. Just replace cute photos of their kids with cute photos of your crush (or ex), and replace marriage events with house parties, and you've hit what the twenty-somethings on fb do daily. Anyth
