I think you missunderstood the idea. A smart house system will be invariably an embedded system, and not a generic multi purpouse PC, which you all reply-ers immediatelly implied. There is no need for USB mass storage drivers. It will proba

(Replying to myself) I'd actually really like to see a USB socketed light(LED) bulb. Just push/pop. No more screwing! please next start-up, develop this!

I doubt it. Or I doubt that you understood the idea. How can I put a autorun file on my USB mouse? it's the same idea. If the device is not a USB storage device, how it can serve files? Or why do you imagine that the intelligent house

I think here the main point, not that good developed in the article, is that the devices powered by USB power have access to the data bus, that is they can be intelligent as such. For example, as a fellow commenter, the USB-powered fan, in

Why not automated fully, by using some AI/image classification system, which I am sure by the current state of advances, can do some wonders in recognizing objects in a photograph. Maybe not all, but having maybe 80% classified, is sti

Neither do I. Impressive. Never used Pinboard, but I'll take a look. PS. And actually Bulgaria is the poorest, Romania does better.

you can combine this with the voice option from search, nice way to speak out loud and have this timer set. I've set up a custom shortcut for triggering voice search ( besides the Ctrl+Shift+.) and works like a charm.

Is quite worth to read this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clock_signal . You don't need a special core for this, the whole processor is a giant clock distribution platform to different areas (cores/regions).

the EE answers were never really behind a paywall, simply they were so hidden at the bottom of the page that a normal user did had the idea to scroll fully. After all, they needed to present the information to the google bot.

Don't understand the downvoting! The concave part of the GSK's right building can focus in a relatively small area quite a lot of sun. It is actually impossible to sit in that area in a sunny day, starting May. I got cought while

I agree, but this only works if you are damn experienced and really know both worlds: business and technical. Read Bezos' biography ( on wikipedia ) and you will know what I mean.

Of course. There is also the third solution. With the vast amount of internet resources (think stackoverflow, etc) it possible for a founder to get to a alpha version 100% on his own. It is cheaper and sometimes more effective, because of m

So, the takeaway from the article is: don't co-found with someone technical, hire/outsource them. Well, I could say: good luck! You either get some half-assed solution or something ( if you oursource ) you don't even asked f

Although I truly simpatize with the person ( and the political subject ), I can only express my wonder towards humans as a species: in order to survive, we adapt by overcoming our fears, then we move on, forgetting what was all about. The n

Actually, this looks more interesting than at first look. The previous flip was around '89, which saw the Eastern Europe wave of 'change'. Then 9/11. Now we have the 'Arab Spring'. But, correlation is not causa

I can only recommend libfaketime. It great to test all kind of software, which either depends on some time of day or, alternatively ( but not recommended! ) to circumvent some other software with a built in license expire time.

Thanks for clarifications. I couldn't say it better. In a real world, you can't live on illusions, an AI really needs to perform ( think Googles self running cars ). Learning ( and all the other useful ingredients of the AI ) are essential.

Thanks, I edited my comment. I am more in the field of general AI ( and the rest of pure definition of AI ). So normally what I saw is the intelligence of a programmer put into very clever algorithms. I don't see any learning effect , or pe

That's hardly AI. It's just algorithms. Parametrized, using a probability distribution to randomize the environment, user programmed algorithms. EDIT: Well, if this AI in game development, then so be it. But it's still not AI in the generic

In my 20's I've done a lot of web design for about 5 years. After 2, maybe 3, years I could "see" the colors and their nuances in the hex codes. More interesting was the reverse lookup, seeing a color and visualizing the hex for it. Fun tim
