   Down votes for pointing out the same API is available on three platforms? (And iOS and recent Androids for that matter.)

   Apple's C DNS-SD API[1] is available on OS X and Windows and Avahi offers a shim that implements a decent subset of it. 1: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Networ...
