Ryder Carroll just released his book The Bullet Journal Method in October 2018. Highly recommend giving it a skim; it's a highly opinionated template about where to start with Bullet Journaling (kind of like Ruby on Rails or React fo

This article is literally an advertisement for a book. From the fine article: "This piece was adapted from James Geary’s new book, Wit’s End: What Wit Is, How It Works, and Why We Need It ." Seen under that light, the article wor

CDMA phones (notably, 3G Sprint US, 3G Bell Canada, 3G Telus Canada) couldn't simultaneously use data (say, Google Maps) and voice. GPS lat/long would work fine, but you won't be able to download turn-by-turn directions or ma

The primary advantage of this pattern is it allows you to use different authentication mechanisms on a per-user basis. For example, for convenience, you may want to allow some users to sign in with a single non-password factor, like a F

Frankly, I think we're seeing the results of the new era of Python paradox. Except it's not Python 3, it's TypeScript, VS Code, and React. If you look at the education space, many of the deployments are either Chromebooks or

From what I've heard of Stripe, this is a non-issue for them. Like Google/Facebook, their brand and compensation are strong enough that they have enough candidates at the top of the funnel. Plus they have specialized processes to

The problem with isolation of components is that then the stylesheets are no longer cascading -- each component needs to be re-designed to fit within a design framework, and there's no CSS reuse between components is entirely copy-and-

It didn't work very well for Ubuntu Phone, either. Spinning a device requires a lot of money, and the folks who want a unified device aren't exactly willing to drop $1000 on a phone and $300 on the dock/adapter to connect it

It is trivial to secure a system by powering it off and disconnecting it from the Internet. That also makes said system useless for getting work done. Many people do not care about security at all; they just care that it "works".
