I don’t know about IRS but SEC enforcement actions are largely driven by complaints from regular people. Perhaps the stock broker got suspicious and acted per their ethical duties, or perhaps one of them wasn’t as tight lipped as they would

About one person, probably not. I think this one hits close to home for a lot of us that have stock in many of these large companies from being employees. Granted, this situation seems particularly egregious, trading off of insider financia

This is a really good piece. I’m sorry that my comment doesn’t add that much to the discussion, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading this and seemed to confirm or put into words things I was on the periphery of thinking.

“ Hey everyone, I want to apologize for the inappropriate use of power here. While I do believe there is an ethical line that was crossed here, I should have called him to understand his point of view and work it out. Which is what I'l

I recently had to start working with GIS data and also didn’t want to be bound to anything ESRI related. I picked up PostGIS (along with the SQLite one Spacialite) and it’s really a dream to use. This history bite is really cool!

I’m unfamiliar with this topic, what do you mean? I thought spinal fusion was just a medical procedure to connect a couple vertebrae for some reason, but I thought the downside was a little less flexibility. I wasn’t tracking it being espec

Well, one of the main recruiting tools we use when trying to find qualified candidates is LN. so we’ll search for “design” or “engineering” and specific companies and then largely source from LN. So if you want to get in touch with people h

I didn’t and don’t appear to be able to downvote, but your comment appears super orthogonal to the title subject, far enough afield to be considered trolling or just trying to drag Pelotons name through the mud in unrelated discussions. Tha

It won’t happen here, but in the Foxconn case a better alternative would have been to not grant the incentives and “lose out” on Foxconn coming to Wisconsin.

Yeah this seems like something better as a pre commit check, or as a run on save, the same way I might run go lint or gofmt, not after the code is in the repo but as I’m saving. The “not talking to the users” mistake can be super fatal in p

I don’t use sublime in my day to day, but always keep it on hand because it’s the only IDE that quickly opens for viewing very large csv or similar files without a hitch. PyCharm, VSCode, Aton all barf under these conditions.

At one point we spent some time reverse engineering the Chinese coordinate system, it’s actually quite fascinating. So terrible though. But OSM actually doesn’t use that system! They use the normal coordinate system, which makes them unique

That’s true, but you appear to be a test engineer at Google. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it’s also not the same as writing large scale services in Go so I don’t think the experiences are suuuuuper overlapping. I’m a designer and

No, stoicism is more about determinism of outcomes and being free from emotions like anger and jealousy. If you kinda mangle that a bit, I can see how it might sound like reasonable expectations but it’s really not the same thing. Besides,

Matlab is great. I won’t hire anyone who only has experience in it though, like I might hire someone who only has python numerical analysis tools experience. It’s brittle and difficult to put into production in my experience.
