I've been wanting to make time to learn Haskell. But I have this problem, when learning any language, where I don't know what to build, but want to take a learn by doing approach. What are some good things to build when getting in

I agree. I can't stand the tone. OSDev.org does a good job of managing peoples expectations without insulting people. Its possible to be clear and concise without resorting to using abusive language.

I don't think it has to be an all or nothing thing. Do whats right for you! But I definitely know some people do it out of guilt. Indulging themselves, and their co-workers in Productivity Theater.

I agree. Unfortunately, the fact that they include the moment you were born in your timeline makes me feel that they don't want us to easily curate our profile. I might be a pessimist though, I hope they add the feature.

I think this distinction is incredibly crucial. There has been so much talk about how a CS degree is useless (and I for a moment bought that garbage as a holder of a CS degree), but it is completely untrue. As you work with more and more pe

This is tricky. If I'm working full-time, depending on the compensation, specifically in terms of stock and salary, I'll optimize for 40 hours a week. As a freelance developer, I don't care how many hours you want me to work.

Uber has been great in my experience. In NYC I had a couple terrible drivers, and I gave a couple terrible reviews. Without me having to reach out, figured out the details, then they apologized and provided a refund.

Really great idea. Attacking any segment of brick&mortar businesses with this kind of product is a big opportunity. I tried doing this before with SquidCube but it was a bit too broad, and lacked the required focus to be compelling.

Fair point. We have CBP for many reasons. The mishandling is the primary issue at hand. I wish there were honest statistics available, so that people could know for a fact that yes, there are or are not actually a lot of extreme cases like

No, I think there is a need. If the definition of what it is to be American is warped, specifically, that it takes more than citizenship to be welcomed home, then that should come into the discussion of these cases of mistreated foreigners.

You don't think its weird to be strip searched, and kept from contacting worried parties, because you decided to play a non-profit show without a visa? Law or not, I don't think that makes sense.

Even if you were born and raised in America, you're not truly American unless you're white. Until then, prepare to be accosted at immigration.

I think that's tough on everyone involved. The soon to be gone employee won't want to stay. Especially after hearing - "hey you're a poor performer so leave in 2 weeks." Employers should give formal warnings. Employ
