I have no idea, but I'd guess not, sorry. But if you want to have control over what your computer does, why are you using Windows? :P

I don't really know why, but I have some small optimism that Servo might enable such a browser. The only other candidate browser engine is Webkit, which is already too huge to be part of a small Unixy browser. Maybe Servo, as a project

Use Iceweasel or GNU Icecat?

Why class yourself as "not an Emacs person"? You can use this application without using the rest of Emacs. You'd have to learn something new, but you'd have to learn something new with any new spreadsheet application.

The closest approximation is probably gritting your teeth, installing evil-mode, and using Emacs.

To insert a literal character (like the Escape entered in this post) in Emacs, use C-q.

You don't need Docker to make a standard build environment. You don't need "chroot on steroids", you just need chroot.

Kind of amusing that the article explains how to set up the development environment using VirtualBox. I doubt many Linux kernel hackers use or want to use VirtualBox. At least, many ones working with mainline.

It's interesting to see some of the contemporary systems of the World Wide Web. Does anyone know of a good article exploring why the Web won and the other systems all faded away?

Perhaps the parent poster was wryly indicating that he doesn't think that much of Docker. Certainly I think both of you are correct: Docker is about packaging, and it absolutely sucks at that. The only reason that that is not obvious i

The natural language interaction they suggest is partially satisfied by Google (or, in general, web search). Most information you want can be found in this way, and we don't have any issues of allowing an undo mechanism or being intera

Neovim won't be preinstalled for a long time. Possibly it never will be. Also, writing Elisp is not far from writing Guile Scheme, and there are many tools that embed Guile.

Well, no need to really look forward... You already have every one of those capabilities with Emacs. >you could put together anything from a simple test/editing environment to a full-blown IDE. People already do this with Emacs.

I used to think I had the same problem. I tried to make sure everything I used could be used in a full-fledged way on my phone. But eventually I realized: This isn't a problem with org-mode, it's a problem with the shitty state of

Yes! "Emacs as an application platform" is a really great way to quickly write text-focused, keyboard-controlled applications (as most developer tools are). It even has graphical support in addition to running in the terminal, so

You can use this application in Emacs without using Emacs as an editor. In fact, if what you really want is to have this as a separate ncurses application, you're in luck: That is already the case. (Though Emacs is not ncurses) (The fa

What I'm having trouble understanding (as just a regular, not-hardcore programmer) is this: What end-user advantage will cause people to buy devices that include FPGAs? What use are they to a consumer? What interesting programs or devi

Well, this is a very trivial "exploit" of XPC. The real problem is that such an API even exists at all. I mean, a method to create an arbitrary file in an arbitrary location with arbitrary attributes? That is completely braindead.
