And you come off as a person with a holier-than-thou attitude. What's wrong with thinking about an experiment that hacks the original experiment? I thought this was Hacker News.

At least on OSX, that isn't the case. Even the DNS requests are being proxied through the tunnel.

I think languages that allow the use of non-alphanumeric characters as method definitions make the language appear more magical simply because it looks like built-in language syntax. I remember when I first looked at sbt, they were creatin

If it were a phishing scam, I'd still have to give the phisher a thumbs up for using sproutcore & CSS3 techniques on the site. There's a significant amount of javascript for a phishing page.

I think the idea is to NOT do that. If you're doing it in production, you probably run your node in user level anyway, so you should have node installed via nvm or similar tool. Why would you want package.json to list native dependencies,

Well, for someone that uses VIM/Emacs heavily, Eclipse might be fine as an IDE, but I don't like to use it as an editor. When I'm using eclipse to edit code, I feel like I'm using microsoft word -- user friendly, but not "coder" friendly.

Another good option is Linq -- it's great for storing lots of data. We use it here with backbone. We're using this one: http://linqjs.codeplex.com/

I kind of wondered what it looked like before, now that there's no more cloud, but there's still all these comments about how the cloud is annoying.

Old version of chrome perhaps? Works fine on my chrome on osx here. 12.0.742.122 here. (I'm technically out of date too, mostly because I haven't restarted chrome in a while)

why couldn't one write a haml parser for node.js? That would seem like a better strategy than invent a whole new syntax for markup.

Yeah, but this only goes well for smallish projects. If you have files that start to reach 2000 lines, the last thing you'll want is a mixture of model, view, and controller logic in a single file. PHP had this back in 1999, and I don't t

How do you know it isn't netflix that is the slow one here? Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's Reddit that has the slow servers, not my connection. Try downloading a large file from a private Linode VPS and see what your speeds l

Hm, well usually when they advertise 10Mb down, a speed test usually confirms that number. Are you not getting advertised speeds on your land line? I don't remember a time when I didn't get a given advertised speed. Obviously reliability

Why should people be responsible for knowing the difference between Sprint's 4G network and AT&T's 4G network? The speeds are actually vastly different. This problem existed back in the days when monitor manufacturers liked to "round u
