Frankly I think you're naive, unless you're getting hung up on "favor." If you expect me to believe that Microsoft would never cooperate with the American government like this, you'll have to do better than name c

I think bullying TikTok would be more likely to earn the ire of those who use it (non-voting teenagers), and the appreciation of non-users (the parents of those teenagers.) I don't really think that's what's going on here tho

I suspect that Microsoft wants to buy TikTok as a favor to the US Government. I view this as possibly a repeat of Ebay/Microsoft buying Skype as a favor to the US Government. If moderating TikTok is too much of a hassle, they'l

Brands smands, what's behind the sticker? Boeing planes are made in America, but a great many American "brands" aren't.

The first iPod to really become popular was the 4G, which I think not coincidentally was also the first to have proper USB support. iTunes not being on Windows seems like a lesser factor; even if iTunes was on Windows it wouldn't hav

DRM on music is deader than Elvis. I can buy music from Amazon, Apple, or on CD, vinyl or magtap from a record store. None of them employ DRM.

How would you measure the aggregate seriousness of a database, if not with some function of the individual entries of the database? Give me a fucking break, you know damn well I'm right.

Do these systems continue to work in the mask era, or have they wasted their money? Personally I've taken to wearing masks and large sunglasses, just because I can. I suppose they could still track my gait, posture, hair style, etc.

I think my point stands that some allegations are more serious than others and the aggregate seriousness of this database is a function of how serious the allegations in the database are. This seems almost tautologically obvious.

I think that depends on how severe they are. If that's 12 thousand reports of covered up beatings, that's extremely alarming. If it's 12 thousand reports of "showed up five minutes late to work", that's less

Suppose a child disrupts class for 30 of his peers because his dad beats him. His dad has now effectively victimized 31 kids. Wouldn't it be productive and moral to find ways to help all 31, perhaps by putting misbehaving kids in spe
