A 3bn fire sale is going to have a price effect no matter the reasoning behind it.

Interesting that you cite BRK, who famously have been sitting on ~150bn in cash recently. Professional investors absolutely sit on cash all the time.

What does a standard programming language being unsound even imply? It’s not being used for theorem proving, so how is it of consequence?

Yet another pseudoscientific application of Gödel’s incompleteness, which makes very specific guarantees about logical systems of a certain strength and their ability to prove theorems. I’ve no idea how you could twist it into what you sugg

The fact it is an all cash offer should finally put an end to the ludicrous claim so often made that billionaires can’t access liquidity.

The tail end of programming will be the last thing to be replaced, maybe. I don’t see why CRUD apps get to hide under the umbrella of programming ultra-advanced AI.

I don’t see why banking shouldn’t be on a cloud platform, you’re not really giving any reason why we should question it either. As to your second point, security through obscurity is generally believed to not be worthwhile.

I think if Excel macros were banned in finance, trading volume would drop by several hundred billion dollars per day.

Of course it’s surprising. How many other elite athletes can you name that retired at (or more likely, before) their physical and competitive peak? It doesn’t appear irrational either, but it’s certainly far from the norm.

I’m not sure when they were ever distinct things? The history of types in mathematics and programming is incredibly interwoven. Also, it has been shown time and time again that in an expressive enough type system in a programming context, t

The untyped lambda calculus is inconsistent as a logic, hence you need some notion of types. Type theory is indeed building mathematics from lambdas, though.

Pull this thread far enough and it turns out the Y-combinator is a lambda encoding of Russell’s paradox.

What do you mean flow info? Generally selling flow means letting market makers fill orders for a fee. How much is just the info worth, especially in FX?

Medallion makes those returns and is capped at 10bn. The rest is more traditional fund management (and performance isn’t great). Also from what I understand Medallion is HFT in one sense (fast trading with short hold times) but not to the p
