Yea, that's how it works at CMU too. Usually, we just made sure to set a breakpoint there.

You're right, that's what it's called (still have my copy at home). I took the course with Bryant and O'Hallaron. Super smart guys, very nice too. They're the kind of professors that really care more about students

I took the course the book was designed for at CMU (and with the guys who wrote it, all CS majors have to take it), everyone on campus always knew when "bomb-lab" was happening because people would post on FB "Just defused a

Yea I thought the same thing when reading this. Pundit is already well adopted and covers this use case, this seems like re-inventing the wheel a bit atm.

Pundit is excellent, it doesn't tie you to any one model of authorization, it just gives you a standard way to implement your own in a very light-weight fashion.

Docker is incredibly good at caching, the assumption that Docker is slow is incorrect. The first time you build or pull an image on a machine, it might take a few to get the base images, but past that it is lightning fast, and it works the

Even if 90% of deployments are on JVM, that's 10% of deployments that you have to somehow treat differently. Docker is designed to take away this concern, just treat everything as units that need to be deployed on boxes.

This is awesome! The only thing missing in using Github properly for a classroom environment was repo management / isolation.

Yea came to say this, it wasn't quiet at all, its been pretty heavily debated in the community for over a year and Mozilla was very careful to maintain privacy concerns when implementing it.

That isn't Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs wasn't a suave political mover. You had to force him to wear a suit and take a shower (and then be lucky that he was in the mood to do either of those things that day) in the time period the movie

This article is pretty useless IMO. It lays out all of the challenges for going to Mars and doesn't mention once the many research programs that have been going on for years to tackle most (if not all) of these issues. This pessimism o

I don't see how calling Google Wear a "better platform" than the Apple Watch is a defensible position at the moment. The Apple watch out sold all Google Wear devices sold in one year on the first day.

At first, I was really confused because normally land masses are a brighter color than oceans. The colors should probably be inverted so that land has a color with detail and the ocean is all black to make it easier to parse which is which.

Calling it unfair implies everyone has an inherent right to see the event live, but it's a corporate press event and they can show it to whomever they desire. If it were a government address from the White House, that could be unfair.
