Why don't you just run a 4-core VM on your 12-core server and NOT share it with anything else? Wasting the other 8 cores would be worth the licensing savings.

I think it's one of two things: 1) Most of Apple design is now by committee, which is why the Settings in an iPhone are a maze of confusion, especially around iCloud. The iPhone was supposed to be easy to use. Maybe it still is as long

Teletype trivia: This is one reason UNIX commands are so short (mv, ls, cp, etc.). It would have really added up to type longer commands on the 200ms teletype keystrokes. Teletype is why the terminal in UNIX is abbreviated tty.

Are you saying DWA was innovative? I worked there 2 years, and they were the most resistant to change of any company I've worked for in my career.

The Ford Focus Electric looks fine. I think there are other electric cars out there that are the electric version of a "typical" car. My theory is automakers want the car to stand out, even if it's ugly, since otherwise how w

Not sure about that, Ruby took the good parts of Perl regex parsing, such as the conditional format: var =~ /regex(match)/ With $1 and so on for each match.

Twitter has been running Mesos in production for years (yes, plural), from what I understand. Mesos appears to be the only "proven" and "mature" platform at scale. I am surprised it was not also evaluated. (though, conta

Now imagine Apple got rid of independent repair shops (they are already heading in this direction pretty much). There would be outrage, and there's already unease with Apple's direction in these areas. Why does Tesla get a pass?
