"Document" can be puzzling when working on a directory. A "buffer" is a transition zone the user can work/interact with (and sync to it's source if any)

Hi, In Emacs, it is possible by using "follow-mode": Open a "large" file. M-x follow-mode C-x 3 ;; to split vertically And adjust splits width as many times needed. I usually use 3 splits with "visual-line-mode"

One thing I do is to put this snippet in .bashrc or .profile for i in ${HOME}/.bash.d/*.sh do if [ -r ${i} ] ; then . ${i} fi done And drop some custom scripts in ${HOME}/.bash.d/ like alias.
