I can try to expand on this a bit, and respond to your thoughts. > What you say makes total sense. But for some personal reasons the social part of the job has always been my weak side and I'm just not interested in playing that gam

Agreed. I've also found the proliferation of "AI film director" created "films" funny. The output is a strung together set of 2-3 second clips telling some story. The characters changing between clips, the scenery c

I think still images have improved remarkably, though some things still look off for people (they look too-flawless). Whereas video suffers from the strange fluidity and unnatural motion of things.

I'm about 12 years in myself and can provide some thoughts on this, though I'm not 20+ years senior. My first few roles were in startups, where I got to be very hands on, learn a bunch, and mostly focus on the craft of software de

I'm an EMT w/ a fire dept, we run a local flu shot drive for our community for free. Check for other resources like this for example in your community, or perhaps at the county level.

Agreed. The double-edged sword of "giving everyone a voice" online means we also gave platforms to hate speech, low quality content, dangerous misinformation, the extreme optimization of extracting attention/money from people

I think in all of those other examples you provide, a person still had to do something. - take a photo of a subject - paint something - pick up a guitar Whereas asking the computer in the lowest effort possible to do said thing for you “dra

I always assumed they were just a deterrent given the flashing blue lights and audio “this area is being monitored”, and less of an actual threat.

>GenAI is not used to replace or generate new talent performances >> This is 100% a lie. We’ve had CGI for decades and generally don’t mind. However, the point at which AI usage becomes a negative (eg: the content appears low qua

They also mention reputation / image in there. If I can’t tell something is generated by AI (some background image in a small part of a scene), it’s just CGI. But if its the uncanny valley view of a person/animal/thing that i

That’s an interesting way to put it, which asks the bigger question of (perhaps?): Do we want a society where everyone can masquerade as an “artist”, flooding society with low-quality content using AI trained on the work product of actual a

This reads like a reasonable policy. More broadly speaking re: AI content: Sure, boomers scrolling facebook will continue to enjoy their AI slop baby and animal videos, but I think the fact that the term "AI slop" has become so co

For sure, as long as the product keeps selling and it stays up, great, the business is still viable. I think its more analogous to a car with some problems that may be going unchecked; it still drives and gets you from A->B, until it doe

It makes more sense through the lens of advancing the short / medium term interests of corporations under the guise of “helping people”. When we’re all brain rotted and unemployed, how will we spend money on corporations? Its a spiral.

Do tyrants care about law? They find ways to work around law, write new law, and rule by decree. Democracy is largely following norms and tradition of respecting the people and laws, but it can also be ignored when those in power shift.

I feel like this sums up the AI problem at large. The marketing and hype from every tech company is that its game changing, but more softly spoken is “hey dont trust it for anything important” as a CYA disclaimer. The problem is the masses
