Sounds like a good time to start selling those .com/.net domains I've got stashed away.

That's assuming that users want to learn in the first place, and dont' tune out the moment anything remotely technical hits their ears.

True, it's probably little more then a coat of paint on it's house. That being said, they're probably paying more attention to those that just threw eggs all over it, and if they chose, to act accordingly. Not like there woudl be much that

One good reason to seek out employers that dont' have all encompassing NDA/IP restrictions as part of their hiring contracts. They're hard to find but they do exist, and they're worth their weight in gold.

depends on where you live. Here outside of dental it's all covered. And the local CoC offers full dental/prescription coverage for a decent amount per employee.

I know that salaries in Canada are advertised in what you would make before taxes/CPP/EI, which usually come out to 17-26% less for most mere mortals.

With the only caveat being to get that next contract. Not that I'm disagreeing with you, it is the way to go. You just need the constant stream of work, which is easier said then done.

Hope not. Another Canadian company sold off would suck. Losing a phone that I could do Java Mobile on would be the cherry on that sundae.

Doesn't surprise me they're pressuring. What does surprise me is that we didn't capitulate the moment they asked. Now that's change I can believe in while it lasts.

This is something that, as someone that is looking to get into the whole consulting business (yes I must be insane), found quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Ya they didn't specify remote only (it's the only ones that I looked at previously) but didnt' see the consolidation attempt that follower mentioned. My bad.

Agreed. Or at least have a sortable system that would allow us to say only have remote jobs appear (for those of us that are interested in only that segment of the marketplace)

Sneakers as well. The world of cryptography is still as murky and interesting as it was back then. Doubt we'll find a key to everything in an answering machine though. :D
