If the videopixie team is listening, you should really go after the wedding photographer market. Consider the following: - Most DSLRs shoot video now - Most brides want photos + video but don't want to pay 2 separate vendors - Most pho

One of my favorite nginx features I just discovered is that you can use a regex in the server_name and then you can use the capture as a variable later [1] ... this lets you serve domains or subomains from completely different directories w

Congrats on the funding–it's nice to know a service I use has some additional resources. (I usually take this as a sign the company will be around for the long haul, but that might be a bit presumptuous these days). I'm using File

Yeah, that's likely the best way to do it. Problem is, our image uploads now number in the high hundreds of thousands (not counting thumbnails). The other problem is, we are short-staffed. So, if I tackle this, it takes me off other pr

I have a Rails 2.3x ecommerce app that is not our primary product but still makes us a good amount of money. Personally, I'd like to upgrade to Rails 3.2x (and eventually 4) so I can take advantage of some newer gems. However, the task

I've been working on something like this with the printer I use at http://cheergram.com . There are a few hurdles like dealing with large files and handling them when out of spec, but its definitely a good idea.

Good idea. I was just thinking you could tie into people's workouts in a similar fashion. My wife is big into crossfit and I was thinking of letting people order shirts with their personal score/time.

It's hard to tell exactly what codeable does but I really like a combination of Skype + Screen Hero. Google Hangouts might be another option. I'd be willing to try it with you if you just have some simple RoR questions.

The recent Inc. article [1] about GitHub isn't really deep but the end has some insights: a shift is taking place: "Now we are finding that it's not just about the code; it's about, 'Hey, I want to work on this wit

This was my thought exactly. Even with seed funds and angel investors, the number seems small (AngelList for example shows about 18K investor accounts). Perhaps the amount of money they have (and you can charge them) offsets this a bit.
