Such a loss. I've spent many hours reading vim's incredible source code and documentation while developing a vim emulation plugin for the Julia REPL. Absolute world class codebase. Moolenaar was an amazing programmer, and his impa

If film was invented in France, why didn't France become the film hub of the world, then, instead of Los Angeles? If packet switching is from the UK, why didn't the UK build a world wide network instead of DARPA? If HTML was inven

Really? That is very different from my experience. If you're talking about the actual City of London then maybe, but most other places I have found quite lively and active in the evenings, especially around where I live.

I saw your talk in London a few weeks ago and immediately thought of your discussions on python accelerators when I heard about Mojo - glad to see your thoughts here!

I did just this, and it hallucinated an answer (and did not hit my server). It may be more accurate than ChatGPT sometimes, if it's using Googles latest web index. The url I used has nothing publicly available and is likely not indexed

It's astonishing to see the goalposts move so quickly. The cope of "well, okay, it can do that, but that's not even the hard part!" when just a year ago this entire product was almost unimaginable.

You should listen to the full first movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. It's one of the most popular pieces of music in history, and for good reason!

I recall reading a very interesting short story about exactly this - handing over the entirety of your daily minutiae to AI and the moral consequences. I'm unable to find the name of it, maybe something by Ted Chiang?

There are of course many breaking changes that could improve the language itself, but in my opinion the attention of maintainers is best spent on improving the ecosystem--while a 2.0 release may be exciting, I've been very pleased to s

Just stunning. I'm only 26 and clearly remember being impressed with my 512mb flash drive. There are few, if any, industries with such consistent progress as semiconductors.
