What are the features that make Prince XML better than headless chrome? Prince XML is not open source or cheap.

I was wondering about this as I hadn't heard of it before. Found this http://en.swpat.org/wiki/Implicit_patent_licence . It seems like yes it's true that there is an implicit grant, but it's not well est

That is my understanding as well. I haven't been able to get my U2F working on recent Firefox builds. It's such a shame because I really want to use U2F instead of an authenticator app. I have like 20 different sites in there and

Great point. I think that Maven Central is great about checking incoming packages. But most maven clients are really bad. The default in maven client is usually to download via http. The default is usually to _not_ check the hash. There is

U2F is a standard for the web. The Universal 2 Factor standard is published by the FIDO Alliance and it's documented and clear and implementable. The javascript APIs needed are covered. You can get it here https://fidoalli

I have Meet enabled on my GSuite account at work. It most definitely does not work in Firefox. If you go a Meet link you get "Meet doesn't work on your browser yet To join the video meeting, you can install the current version of

Yes! It's really frustrating that Hangout / Meet don't work on Firefox. This isn't just Google's fault I think. Firefox changed how plugins work and I think that broke Google's Hangout implementation. Also I ca

I feel like this is just another reason to use subresource integrity on your includes. If you are only pulling javascript and your HTML is served outside of China you can ensure the correctness of the response.

Great post! I too had the issue with AWS volume attachments and the need to separate them out. Luckily it happened early during some of my first provisioning and we realized it before standing up more databases. I now have a policy where

I really liked "Building Microservices" by Sam Newman. It's a good review on current software architecture and software development process in addition to going over microservices. Honestly microservices are a topic in the b

I have seen a lot of movement back to agriculture. Friends of mine, many college educated, are working for farms or starting their own farms. Land is available and they seem to be doing pretty well.

I'm curious what you mean by fully immutable data pipeline or DPL. Is this a data processing methodology or an actual technology?

I realize that there are some actual technical questions here but I can't help but be fascinated by the politics of this. Are IBM and RedHat just against Jigsaw because of commercial interests in JBoss Modules and OSGI? Do they actuall

This sounds totally like a squeeze. Google is telling startups "Cut us in if you want to play in this game." I like that they're cutting the lawyers out of the picture though. Instead of waiting till the company gets big, su

The sneakiest thing just happened to me on that Washington Post site. There was an overlay ad, no big deal, with an X to close it in the upper right of the screen. I moved my mouse up there to click the X and the site shifted slightly so

I feel like this is a slippery slope. As with all neutrality, net neutrality means that for good or bad you can't prefer some traffic. Any zero-rated service is not neutral. You can't block Facebook from being zero rated but allow

I wonder if they are referring to a peering Internet exchange point (IXP) when they say metro. Basically a building where networks converge and ISPs connect to each other.

I completely agree. I would really love to be able to examine and update the code running my car. It seems like opening up car computers is essential to retaining freedom of transportation. Especially when everything becomes self driving.

Are you using a self hosted GitLab? I feel that GitLab would have the exact same issues that GitHub has. The TOS are just clarifying what is required to run a cloud source code repository. If they want to do things like index the code, run

I think it's pretty clearly explained in DigitalOcean's docs. They have a public interface and a private interface. The private interface is not Internet routable but is routable by all other instances in the datacenter. I agre
