If you mean compatibility view in IE8 : http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/08/27/introducing-comp... then I'll have to agree that it would be better to handle the problem the same way (a button which would send a different UA string). T

Exactly : weak article ! Instead of giving a factual opinion, he's biaised because, well, Last.fm are his friends and TC are his friends too. It seems like he doesn't want to be in conflict with any of them.

I was expecting reactions such as yours. I think this article belongs to HN because it's about a smart expert in his field who failed hard because of irrational decisions he made : It questions expertise we acquire thanks to our education a

I was hoping to have some examples of projects. I'm interested in Arduino but have yet to find a good project to begin with.

It's a very good essay about online privacy and our social relations in the virtual world. It's written by someone who understands it.

I can't wait the day I won't have to load a Flash video. It's such a painfull experience. It'll be the beginning of the end of Flash, which makes me happy.

I like the idea expressed in this article, working with the faith of a greater good. It gives you a reason to sit 8 hours a day on an uncomfortable chair.

Why don't they catch them when they leave the boat (easy to track with some drones) ? How do they leave ? I couldn't find any answers to that in the article.

I find much of these rules terrible, at first I believed it was a joke, no wonder we live in a society in which people feel so miserable !

Me too, I certainly appreciate the work/life balance this guy is talking about. That's the kind of spirit I'm following and I'm glad some people aren't emphasizing the developer's myth of all nighters.

Thanks for the answer, spontaneously I would love Xobni to do one thing : automatically integrate the contacts into Outlook's address book. I might do it wrong but when I compose a new mail, the autocomplete function of Outlook doesn't show

I don't really get what's so great about Xobni. I use it at work, but except for the contact search and attachment features it isn't very useful. It's just as good as many addons developped without many resources for Thunderbird, not worth

In 92 the SSDs did not have the same growth as today. They are getting mainstream with the MacBook Air and others following, I guess the wait is finally over.

That's what is bothering me with this stuff. You just can't put your own bigger headphones and use the Shuffle properly. Suppose you break the earbuds, you must buy some new ones to Apple to skip the tracks ! It's not the quality I expect f

This article is what I love about HN, geeky yet giving you an informative approach about certain aspects of life. I guess that it's the whole point of the "hacker" thinking, having the knowledge of what's happening behind the scenes.

I am surprised that he says he is still focused on having more users. Twitter already has, in my opinion, a quite large (mostly techie) user base, the numerous whales would approve. Figuring out how to make money out of it would be nice for

What was that ? I don't get the point, except if it is outlining the obvious fact that Twitter may also work as a way to get in touch with people you don't know.

You should work on the website's design, there is a lack of unicity. The screencast is too short, you should describe to us what you're doing, why you're doing it and the result.

I learned there is a place where I can find smart and insightful articles mostly about computer science but also humanity in general, whereas most of the Internet is about silly stuff (yes digg I'm talking to you !)
