“It’s a religion/identity” is true of just about everything these days (sports, political movements, subreddits, whatever). It’s not specific to crypto. It’s a symptom of the lack of meaningful identities for people to adopt, and the

Well, that’s the conclusion the authors want you to draw. IMHO, that’s a higher burden of proof than a correlation study like this can offer. As in, if I didn’t already drink coffee, and I was worried about stroke, I don’t think this study

The take away here is: there is no obvious evidence in this data that coffee and tea cause stroke or dementia. So if we were worried about that, at least there is no obvious relationship.

I think the article also applies to teams - in particular, how not to destroy teams by ignoring the individuality of the team members, and indeed of the team itself. Each individual grouping of humans is unique in its social dynamics, relat

We had people do this. It sounds good in theory but in practice you wind up scheduling the next meeting 45 minutes later because you know the first one will run over. The second or third time the “boss” rolls into a meeting 30 minutes late

I think not allowing late people in is bad, but ruthlessly starting on time (with no “catching up” people who are late or revisiting decisions) is good.

If they’re in the same “project” it will detect them. This is also a good way to use IntelliJ because it makes it easier to do large changes that span many code bases / repos.

Appreciate your point but this is a false dichotomy - (to me, at least) there's beauty in function. In fact, it's sort of the only non-subjective aesthetic. Code like the Linux kernel isn't necessarily all beautiful in terms

I’m looking for tips around this too, but a couple things that I have noticed helping me are: - Extend your competence at least one layer below where you are working. So if you’re using Java, read through the code for the SDK data structur

Use Linux, pretend you’re in the 90s/2000s. If you can’t afford a team, you’re too small to need more. - Use NFS (EFS), put builds in a /releases folder - Bash scripts for build, deploy, release - Bash scripts to wrap apps (writ

You would need a valuation for the painting you disposed of. The fact that you never actually received USD is irrelevant. I had this problem in 2018 - I bought BTC in 2017 before the boom, exchanged a bunch for ETH at the peak of 2018, and
