Tor is not as secure as it is often thought. It needs to be redesigned and/or adopt some modifications from I2P's "garlic routing". I suggest a complete end-to-end rethink of how anonymous Internet services are done. Ins

I haven't tried but I believe I can't play Minecraft anymore because all players have been forced to convert their Mojang accounts, which is something I simply don't want to do. Funny how a company can just take away somethin

This site is extremely sparse on information. I know what a unikernel is but it's not clear how it reduces cloud spending other than perhaps a small reduction in overhead. I'd like to know what kind of work would be needed to make

Sure but Kubernetes doesn't really reinvent the foundations, it just builds on top of them. All of the problems of existing operating systems are still there.

I wonder how much your mind would have to distort reality for you to believe you're providing the world with a good service when you're at the helm of Twitter or Facebook.

>I think a lot of people treat the merge of a PR as their god-given right I've never seen this at work or in open source, and I've done quite a bit of open source. Contributors will get frustrated if their PR is simply ignored

I'm assuming you mean't "why shouldn't". Because a lot of critique in programming is a matter of personal opinion and I see it as impolite to block somebody else's hard work because it doesn't look the way

I think many developers treat PRs as an opportunity to gatekeep. I'm not a very politically correct or emotional person but I think gatekeeping/nitpicking is extremely demotivating and it should be avoided wherever possible. When

I wish I could have discussions about cryptocurrency as a technology rather than a "get rich quick" scheme. Back in 2017 I was really excited about Ethereum and the promises of scalability not just from Vitalik B. but from other d

Tangential but I feel pretty depressed about middle class consumerism. People just buy new gadgets such as phones and tablets every year like their money is burning a hole in their pocket. Things that you want to last like fridges, toasters

Chromatic aberration is a long-standing issue with VR too. Hopefully this new material works as described and can be produced cheaply.

It does the latter and unfortunately it doesn't compare to i3/sway for that reason. It feels way too sluggish and clunky, with windows often not conforming to the right size.

It's strange how Anne Wojcicki's company has done more for science than Theranos ever did yet most have never heard of her. Even when you exclude the scandal Elizabeth Holmes got herself into, she was more well known.
