In terms of societal harm sure but MDMA is still dangerous. With the pills around today it's easy to overdose. Not to mention all the people that've died from overheating or overhydrating. It's not a 'whatever' drug

Pretty much. I bought the game ~10 years ago and didn't want to migrate to a Microsoft account, but I have no recourse. They don't care. So I can't play anymore even if I wanted to.

Tend to swing between extremes but mostly just frustrated. There's a new crisis every five minutes following by politicians handling it extremely poorly with zero integrity. Why do we put the most greedy and foolish people into power?

The wording of these always makes my skin crawl. Just say what's happening and what led to this decision. Numbers, not handwaivey rhetoric like "we need to focus".

Good man, I hate Dyson shit so much. It's all overpriced rubbish. Whenever I see their hand-dryers in a public bathroom I just use paper towels instead because they tend to blow stagnant water and particles in your face.

The cynic in me says that's intentional. They want young, enthusiastic people willing to work for less that they can throw away when they're done.

No, that's kind of my point. Terraform looks sexy and declarative on the surface but it's really just turning HCL into cloud API calls where the actual logic happens. Once you've got a few hundred lines the wheels start falli

Terraform does the job but it's pretty dirty and unreliable. I've had so many cases where a plan looks all great, PR gets approved and merged, and then something happens during the apply causing it to fail because all validation i

Given this is HN this could be an unpopular opinion. But if I'm procrastinating about doing something, I just don't do it. In fact, I just try to forget about it because I'll end up in a horrible loop of guilt and self hatred

"You will own nothing and you will be happy" God it's depressing. I'm jealous of the generation who bought homes for the equivalent of one year's salary, sat on them while their value multiplied 20x, and then had th

Moving people away from disaster zones and making infrastructure more resilient would be far more realistic, not to mention cheaper, than reducing emissions or pulling CO2 from the atmosphere. It's too late to stop using fossil fuels.

I wrote a similar solution based on reflection for a game server I wrote in Go. It's probably too early to be worrying this about but reflection is apparently slow. I also found it difficult to write reflection code that was robust. Th
