It's all done. Redhat wins enterprise (server) market, while Ubuntu "just works" on desktop.

Very smart way to create (and then resale) a big HR database. It also should be integrated with HN, like standard button/link in user's profile.

Still using IE6 means avoiding forced updates from MS, so, they probably were disabled security updates. It means they are the source of bootnets and hosting for trojans and viruses.

So, there are just Google and Microsoft, and that is very good for Google, because a good karma matters! And where is Apple with "the search for rest of us"? =)

What is JDK 7? Yet another marketing buzzword? Would it happen to run on emerged ARM-based platforms? Netbooks? iPhone? Android? Symbian? Whatever?

Oh, it is so common. Sublimation and suffering are required for a success in creative activities, like going-through-pain is required for success in a professional sports.

They will probably build something like fbdev wrapper to run their browser along with Native Client and GPU-accelerated (even on ARM) ffmpeg's codecs for html5 support, and it could be a real deal. They will reuse 80% and build 20% as usual

How big should be the server to run this site (with all its traffic), if it could be ported from ark to Clojure? =)

This is not a big problem, because the fix can be forsed through its update system, like microsoft doing it. Similiar vulnerability for Symbian OS is a big thing, because almost no one updates their phone's firmware. =)

Python's C implementation is so clean.. just try to compile it on OpenSolaris with Sun compiler. hint: Perl or Ruby were passed 100% tests.

1. Get latest OpenSolaris. 2. Install latest SunStudio 3. download latest source of Python (3.1) and Ruby (1.9.1). 4. Try to build them with CC=/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc" CFLAGS="-m64" 5. See the results. Run make test for ruby.
