Well, some rendering acceleration was with us from the very beginning in form of DMA ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_memory_access ) - transfer of blocks from RAM to VRAM. But that pretty much what we have now eve

I understand. Problem is that any practical 2D rendering solution shall support as GPU as CPU rendering unfortunately. It would be interesting to see any GPU equivalent of something like AGG by Max Shemanarev, RIP.

CoreGraphics is pure CPU rasterizer, similar to GDI+. Sciter ( https://sciter.com ) on MacOS uses Skia/OpenGL by default with fallback to CoreGraphics. It is possible to configure Sciter to use CoreGraphics on MacOS to compar

Question to the author: is this only implementation of GPU rasterizer? What about anything like WARP ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Advanced_Rasterization... ) - fallback rendering when GPU is not available ?

Well, applications that use Sciter UI are native ones: https://sciter.com/#customers And applications that use Electron are not. Just because the only reasonable option (for many reasons) to write code there is script. And

I know how to tackle such problems. My comment is rather about "multi-core UI". Many UI tasks have almost real-time requirements (animations, synchronized rendering, video) so they behave as "make -j 4" meaning that the

It depends... On Raspberry Pi for example (ARM device) parallel compilation (make ... -j 4) makes its UI completely non-responsive. The only reasonable option for UI rendering these days (high-DPI monitors) is to delegate rasterization to G

Sciter does not use webview or any other existing browser engine implementation. I did HTML/CSS and script engines by myself. The only place where I intersected with WebKit and Gecko teams is at WHATWG and then HTML WG at W3C in design
