Well said. The meme of "it wasn't at all about states' rights and if you think it was you're a (racist|revisionist|CSA apologist)" is more confusing than persuasive. And that's my perspective as someone who gre

For Cyph[1], we went with SPHINCS[2] for signing and a combination of McEliece (specifically McBits[3]), NTRU[4], and SIDH[5] for public key encryption. We also considered QcBits[6] as a more space-efficient alternative to McEliece, but it

Probably not. I'm not saying "don't form LLCs" — it's probably in itself a good idea for any slightly serious project — but rather that it isn't a substitute for complying with the law. I say this from experien

I get the point, but I wouldn't want anyone reading that and taking the conclusion seriously. Forming an LLC in that case is pretty much a waste of time and money that offers a false sense of security.

At one point you just go fuck it, it's a side project. Just wrap it in a LLC so it can't bankrupt you even if you do get sued. From experience: this is dangerous and completely wrong advice. The corporate veil can be pierced if

Ah, well that's fair, and I think I'd generally agree with that. I don't have an alternative proposal for handling TLS failures in general, but I think it's silly to arbitrarily make HPKP's UX a special case, and th

If users do abort their usage of the site, the site is effectively bricked. If they don't, then HPKP accomplished nothing because users are using the site despite a possible mitm. That's exactly the same situation as any other T

That largely defeats the point. Almost no one knows what to make of those errors. And just training everyone to ignore them makes HPKP pointless. How so? Are you suggesting that TLS as a whole is pointless because browsers allow users to

Well, the timing wasn't 100% random since the newly supported Expect-CT header was HPKP's "replacement", but I do think three years is a ridiculously small turnaround time between initially adding support for the feature

We (Cyph) have been pretty disappointed in the Chrome team's decision to kill HPKP. Paraphrasing, but IIRC the reasoning pretty much boiled down to "it's a pain to maintain and Expect-CT is kind of similar anyway" — whic
