I don't think it was hypocritical at all, but I think Zuck didn't clearly explain what he was trying to say. His point was that the valley was essential for when facebook was starting because he didn't know anything and could have only le

In my experience, the drive to make things reusable from the start ends up delaying projects to a point where they might just not get done. I also refactor for the sake of readability (and urge my co-workers to do the same). Of course, this

I must agree. MVP is getting thrown around and twisted like "pivot" did a few months ago. A video is not an MVP, because it's neither viable nor a product. A video is great and, if done right, it's immensely useful at quickly explaining the

Wow there it is. Arrive an hour and ten minutes ago. Thank you so much for that suggestion. I had checked my spam folder multiple times, but I didn't even think about the bulk mail folder. Also, in!

I'm still waiting for my email, but the rsvp page ( http://news.ycombinator.com/susrsvp ) indicates I've been accepted. Anyone else in the same situation?

Did you rsvp before getting the email? I still haven't gotten it, but the rsvp page still indicates that I'm invited. I'm beginning to wonder if they only sent emails to people who hadn't rsvp'd already.

Interesting. I checked it earlier and it said I wasn't accepted. I just re-checked and it's asking for verification that I'm coming. We can't know that anything is ready until they send out the email, so don't get excited/disappointed yet.

This was demoed to Amazon developers internally, and is immensely cool. The main demo involved having all of the developers pull up the slideshow on their laptops, and everyone's instance of the slideshow followed along with matt's instance

If this is matt@, I really enjoyed the internal tech talk at the SLU campus a few months ago. During Q&A, I asked if any of this was going to be open sourced, has that changed? Also, did you fix that javascript code execution vulnerabil

I don't know about blaming this on any larger trend. I think that Jarrod just didn't understand his market. I don't know anything about him, but if this was one of his first companies then blaming failure on his customers is a pretty common

Oh, that's an interesting app. I didn't find that while looking for companies that do this already. Our solution is a bit different - namely avoiding curation by a few people. We're frustrated by how difficult it is to find things to do in

I'm applying to YC this round with an idea very similar to this. We're aiming to help locals make travel guides for their own cities. What other things frustrate you about finding things to do in a foreign city?

Are you saying that the gcc no longer ships with Xcode, or that it, for some reason, moved the gcc binary to a different directory (or both)? If the gcc no longer comes with Xcode, how might one get gcc for OSX Lion?

This headline is misleading. The contract Google had with Twitter expired on July 2, 2011. There hasn't been a statement by either company indicating why the contract wasn't extending. Can we please avoid this sort of sensationalism?
