I've experimented with https://github.com/gfxmonk/python-readability but it's extremely slow. There's a decent fork called decruft that is a couple orders of magnitude faster http://www.minvolai.com/blog/decruft-arc90s-readability-in-p..

I think you'd want something like LDA. See https://cwiki.apache.org/MAHOUT/latent-dirichlet-allocation....

I am working on a project (more of a public service than a startup) that needs this. I've looked through all of the resources linked in the articles above and nothing works as well as I need it to. The best performer is readability, so I wi

I'm not sure about that. A9 and Lab126 don't share office space with the rest of Amazon, but Fresh is right in my building.

> Is EC2 profitable to Amazon? Likely very profitable if you want my opinion. As a rule of thumb, if Amazon is doing something then it is profitable. Amazon will very quickly stop doing something if it can't make money.

Here in downtown Seattle the traffic lights are timed for pedestrians. One can walk from one end of the city to the other without waiting for a light to change.

Thanks for that interesting info. I guess it's all of the buildings that are interfering.

Last time I was in Chicago with the Droid it was snowing pretty heavily, and I figured bad GPS readings were normal with that kind of weather. Didn't get to test it out in clear weather, unfortunately.

Somewhat unrelated to the original article, but: I got great results with GPS on my droid in north Florida, but I recently moved to Seattle and the performance decreased. It takes me 2-3 times longer to get a GPS fix, and it's often off by

I really think we're all underestimating how much value the "shared by default" setting gives to facebook's users. And I'm not talking users like us, I'm talking users like my girlfriend. Whenever she's on facebook (which seems to be consta

I've wanted to make this for a long time, but accepted that I didn't (and don't) know enough about security to do it right. I hope this proves to be a secure implementation. Looking forward to a security review by someone who knows a lot mo

This almost sounds like you'd be willing to pay dues to the AP or Reuters. I don't think that's such a bad idea. I know it would never fly in America but a funding system similar to the BBC, where households have to purchase licenses for th

"Users were required to make a donation to be able to invite friends to join the site." I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case. Someone who is not me invited several people and didn't ever donate. Glad to hear he's been cleared, though.

Hey, good to see the UF sparse matrix collection more widely promoted. The man that runs that, Dr. Tim Davis, is my advisor. One of my datasets is in that collection, too.

There is indeed, http://tedlab.mit.edu/~dr/svdlibc/ this is a sparse svd solver using the Lanczos approach. I've used this, it works pretty quickly and produces exact results, unlike a gradient descent approach. Unfortunately, assuming I
