This raises an interesting question. I wonder if explicitly labeling itself as a Ponzi scheme precludes it from being technically classified as a Ponzi scheme. Is it still technically fraud if you walk up to someone on the street and say: "

rouxbe.com is very, very good. I went through all of their videos over the course of a week or so a couple years back, and the pacing, depth, and quality of instruction are extremely impressive. I would recommend it to anyone.

I wouldn't normally bring this up, but this is the top comment and you say it six times: it's Palmer, not Peter.

I think it actually says a lot more about how generally-free our society is. Giordano Bruno was imprisoned and executed for disagreeing with the church, so had much reason to hide his activities, even though they are what we could definitel

Very much back of the napkin here: 30 year US Treasurys are currently ~2.7%. Assuming someone saves 10% of their pre-tax income each month between the ages of 25 and 55, at that interest rate, they can look forward to 5 times their average

Managed repositories are actually quite a bit different, since the requirements to edit emacs-wiki are quite a bit less stringent than those to submit a modification of someone else's package to a repository. Apt, Yum, etc., require trust i

I don't mean to be harsh, but if a building that existed at the same time as the war is enough to evoke unpleasant feelings for someone, perhaps Germany is not a great place for that person to be living in general.

I take melatonin sometimes when my sleep cycle is off. It's really helpful for correcting it, but I don't like that, even with small doses, I feel vaguely like I'm walking around in a dream world until noon or so the next day.

the NAFTA really does a number on us (Canada) here in making it so easy to work in the States on TN status. I went to university a few years ago with a small group of 3 other pretty bright programmer friends. It turns out it's hard to find

What part of the code isn't self-explanatory that a comment would be able to band-aid? It's all very clean. Comments for comments' sake are much worse than no comments at all.

The way it generally works is that Big Pharma releases a new "2.0" version (often a cis-isomer or the same molecule with a non-functional dangly bit on it), then hands out a bunch of money to get a portion of doctors to quit prescribing the

I'm going to echo everyone else's concerns here and say that the drama from wakemate, lukewarm-to-nonexistant support, and now just letting the wakemate domain expire altogether have not exactly inspired confidence in this product. Maybe if

I'm only one data point, but: I used to pirate (all of my) music. I have bought a grand total of one CD ever. Now I happily consume most of my music through a paid subscription to Rdio. Similarly, I pay for netflix. I (grudgingly) go to the
