The USA already has this. Russia and China have similar systems. If you fly a kamikaze attack against a large US warship, Raytheon's Phalanx CIWS will automatically fire. I believe it handles speedboats as well. The Patriot system is s

I think this applies to families too, explaining why many well-organized and cautious people end up missing out on children. There may never be a time when you feel ready. There is always something more -- a dept paid off, a larger house,

There is something really hypocritical about the difference in how we treat guinea worm and wolves. Going by what we've done with wolves, we would reintroduce the guinea worm over the objections of the people living in the area.

The average engineer can afford a 4 bedroom house and 6 children in 2019. The same goes for somebody who might be called a software architect, but not for the type of architect who draws floorplans and rooflines for houses. Maybe that doesn

The point of the visa is supposedly to bring in unusually high-value workers. The value of a worker is called into question if they need a second income. The same is true if a child consumes "most of the limited income". You shoul

Some kinds of fraud are easier to stop than other kinds. The existing problem, involving bad ideas of market rates, is really hard to stop. We can do this well. Here: The salary is bid for based on family income percentile in the county. Th

The difficulty of assimilating in a strange new country is enough to make many people want to go back, with or without employment. I don't think employment is the issue here. Culture shock is real. You're also away from extended f

You could say an obligation comes from the USA providing a legal framework and a market and the military force needed to dissuade others (countries, pirates, terrorists, etc.) from interfering too much. No obligation is required however. Th

No, the steam comes out. The water won't boil if it is contained under pressure, and it must boil in order to keep the temperature down. Dirty water and a bad choice of steel will lead to corrosion, so don't use those. Purify th

Usually nothing, because this pretty much doesn't happen. It is nearly correct to say that steel buildings never burn down. The last exception to this rule involved luggage, seats, and lots of jet fuel.

Skip the turbopump. That is the whole point of pressurizing. Pressurizing has weight advantages. You can use a balloon tank. The tank no longer has to have the rigidity to support itself. Rockets with typical cycles have used balloon tanks.
