DuckDB is a fantastic piece of tech. One of the best, if not the best, I’ve found in several years.

It’s going to have a very big hill to climb if it’s playing in a space where duckdb already has a hold. Duck has probably been my favourite technology find in the last few years. Awesome tech. I’ll still check this out though.

Sorry, not a question, just wanted to say congrats on putting this together. I am so the target market for a nice terminal interface. I can’t wait to try this out!

I've been looking for a more friendly GUI for working with Dynamo for ages. I had Dynobase but found some of it a bit frustrating. This looks very promising! Very keen to try this out and congrats on launching!

A team I work very closely with as an architect has ditched React in favour of Svelte and the team love it. Everyone prefers it to React and finds it easier and more productive to use.

I used to think Zuckerberg was the worst person in the tech world. Musk has far exceeded him. I wouldn’t spend a cent on a product associated with him.

I’ve previously worked doing technology assessments in the M&A world and copyleft is a big deal there. I’ve had to comb through code (not always automatable) to find any copyleft code and then have had to sit through many meetings with

I used to use a system where each interviewer just wrote down two numbers, hidden from others, marks out of ten for attitude and aptitude. Attitude encapsulated things like humility, willingness and desire to learn and share knowledge, etc

As others have said the C4 model is a great way to address a number of these issues. I can’t find the right video at the moment but Simon Brown (creator of C4) gives a great talk about creating his DSL, Structurizr, for C4, which he develop

I gave up on Google a couple of years ago. I used DDG for a while but often had to jump back (!g) to Google for some things. Now I pay for Kagi (been a year or two) and there’s no going back for me. I hardly ever even need to scroll down to

I really like the C4 model as part of a larger toolset. If you’re also using it then I recommend looking at https://icepanel.io/ Great tooling strongly based on C4, I use it a lot.

I remember seeing a demo of this kind of robot (theoretical at time I think) when I was at university. One of my lecturers was trying to develop them for use in things like brain surgery. That was 25 years ago and I do occasionally wonder w

The UK tabloid rhetoric serves as a strong reminder to me why I left the country and have no desire to ever live there again. Brexit was a resounding sledgehammer driven nail in that coffin. Every single day I am happy I left and all this d

I couldn’t agree more with “Don’t let your CFO drive”. I’ve worked at several companies that turned to absolute shit as a result of exactly this.

I love numberphile and see it mentioned by a few people. Very surprised that (admittedly only skimming through the responses) I didn’t see the lock picking lawyer. Love that channel…. “Little click on one…”

I’ve had too many managers that thought this and none of them knew the first thing about software. They weren’t very successful. It’s a huge red flag for me if I realise someone at an organisation has this mindset.

When I first started building applications back in the 90’s, I did it using the only thing I could get my hands on at the time, Access 95. Many of these low-code tools just feel like a web version of that. Form builders, drag and drop, defi
