Yeah, this was my thought too. This whole situation is just creepy and its even creepier that so many people have a million other ways they would stalk somebody. Sure you can do all of these things, but if you have ethics you just don'

This is the way I usually end up doing things as well. I originally tested out the text grammar for later.js using a parser generator. Then once I worked out the kinks and played around with it a bit, I rewrote the parser so that it was spe

I think this is one of the things that Microsoft did a pretty good job with. There is a security process in place that every product goes through for every release. While it still can't catch everything, even the simplest of threat mo

The participants in the study were IT professionals that managed servers for a living. Servers and actions regarding servers were definitely within their domain experience. So we did exactly what you were suggesting we did. I still think t

Looks like an interesting way to enforce the pattern of testable, reusable components for developers that tend to end up with spaghetti code. However, I think it's a little dubious to say that designers without coding experience will

I'm always surprised with just how much traction IE has lost in the developer/tech community. Across the couple of open source projects I maintain, only 62 of 4,847 visits have been from IE (mostly 9 and 10). I think everyone kno

Very interesting. If everyone submits a couple of times or even ranges of times when they are free (I'm free Friday between 10am - 2pm except an hour for lunch) then you could use schedule.js ( http://bunkat.github.io/sc

Pretty nice! Little bit jumpy when scrolling with the mouse wheel though (much smoother and better effect with the scroll bar), maybe animate the change to offset?

I worked at Microsoft as well (and even on the Azure team as little as 2 years ago) and I agree, none of this sounds like any of the teams that I worked on. I'm guessing it has more to do with his perception as a junior dev suddenly wo

Pretty similar to a side project I built called BidKat (www.bidkat.com). I was focusing on making the selling process easier, didn't really think about this side of it. Very interesting.

Are site maps still a thing? I don't remember the last time I actually saw one. Still pretty nice though, lots of other users for this type of chart.

I still don't understand why start-ups are so enamored with just having lots of users. If you have no way to monetize them, those users just end up costing you a lot of money. While there is always the hope of a huge acquisition solving the

It was number 2 that just turned me off right now. Went to look at some of their demo apps and was met with a loading screen for 10 seconds before anything happened. Not sure about everyone else, but I know my users are not going to stick

This looks incredibly cool, but if there is one thing that I've learned, it's that less magic is generally better when building a real production application (vs a weekend project). While typing something like 'sails generate model User' is

So my options are to try and get onto a small business plan with 2 employees (myself and my wife) or to just get an individual plan for myself that also covers her. I had been told getting into a group plan would be cheaper, but maybe I sho

This mini mall department store strategy is actually prevalent in Taiwan. Basically there is a big department store with a bunch of these mini-stores inside of it. The big difference in Taiwan is that when you want to purchase something y

I think this is a common misconception. Once you wrap your head around d3, building charts is just about as easy as figuring out the required configuration for a Highcharts chart (even complex charts are generally only 30 lines of code). If

It doesn't appear to have gotten much better in this version. I took a peek at the new bubble chart (via their link to a jsFiddle) and it took about 7 seconds to render. I'm drawing similar charts using d3 with 800 data points that render

I'm not sure how to get excited by this. Seems weird that customers had to wait until version 3 to get a bubble chart and some basic animation events (though it seems you are still on your own to figure out the transitions). After using d3
