For me C (1970) and Java (1990) are the only options for eternity. I use some C++ features and dabble in js when I make HTML but really since Applet and Flash has been removed the browser is just a bloated waste of time. Make your apps fast

I made a MMO in 2001 and came to the conclusions that one thread per socket was not going to scale and thought I would mothball the project until that was solved in Java. 2023 and now we have virtual threads that replace blocking IO with no

This is going nowhere, eternal growth mentality will get it's backbone broken by nature sooner or later. You will accept that fact too late. That said, steel f.ex. cannot be made from ore without hydrocarbons at scale. You can recycle

All browsers now default to blocking HTTP URLs. Anti-virus software blocks native applications that use HTTP.

These are the symptoms. The diseases are centrally controlled IP, DNS and root certificates. The removal attempt of HTTP/1.1 is the biggest censorship in history. The only way to fight back is to self host DNS, HTTP and SMTP at home.

All major browsers have now removed HTTP available as default = you need to change a setting to even be able to access a HTTP url. Anti-virus software blocks native apps that try to connect on port 80 and you cannot make them open the port

Those numbers might aswell be pulled out of my behind, but atleast they prove how peaked we are. That said the neodymium mining and the melting involved are things you cannot make easily with electricity. Also I suspect subventions have fou

The problem with all turbine electric generation is the 30% efficiency of steam turbines. You need to generate 3x the amount of heat, with nuclear you are converting matter into energy; it's boiling the planet. Solar and wind is a loos

Applets where bloated by programmers, my Applets where super lean. No, I can't develop Applets, they are disabled in all browsers.

Java is the best thing we have gotten since C in 1970. That was 30 years ago. Since then everyone has been copying Java: C#, WASM, Go, Rust... nothing even scratches the surface. And it never was insecure, it was removed by the same people

They are those that disable HTTP. Like it was not enough to make HTTPS default, they need to eradicate the opposition. The list is too long to enumerate but they all have one thing in common; they profit from root certificates. The web is n

Just use HTTP/1.1, it's the final protocol. Nothing Google or Microsoft does will dethrone it. Forget the browser; use a C or Java client and HTTP. If they block port 80, just use another port. They cannot win.

You don't need hardware encryption if you don't need encryption. You are solving 1% of the problems with 99% of the energy.

Enjoy debugging things when everything is encrypted... and then your certificate provider goes down (or removes you because they don't like you) and you can't even connect...

I don't understand the arguments. 1) TCP needs to establish a connection. That is ZERO problem. 2) Encryption is needed in the bottom stack! WHY? Idiots are eating the world.

OpenGL (ES) 3 has VAO, which IMO is the last GL feature. You need it to build 3D MMOs that can run on low power devices. Without the MMO things are not going to be fun when KWh > $1...
