For some reason this rings a bell - is there an article/blog/post/message in a bottle about Lynn Conway at that conference (and how it’s not really conference; lol?).

Honestly between the ability to flash firmware, interface specs, and maybe PCB schematics that should be enough to use an old device for a motivated individual. My personal pet example of this is old cameras, lenses, and digital backs. Plen

Wow these frames of forests are absolutely stunning - It’s like Princesses Monoke vibes met Disney rendering technology. I wish I knew about all the techniques mentioned in this article, it’s super cool how basically everything is backed up

Mmm 14$ sounds nice! In Seattle a burrito is hard to find for under 17$ IMO. For example, a local and delicious place in a nearby liquor store has 18$ burritos: https://eltacolocoballard.com/seattle-ballard-el-taco-loco-f...

I love Seattle and it’s food but yeah it’s really expensive by default - I haven’t spent enough time in the Bay recently to compare but it feels equally pricy. There are still reasonable & very good places though you just have to know.

Most of the modern ones do - anything from the IQ1-IQ4 has a good preview screen, for live view specifically you need a CMOS sensor based one like the IQ3 100 or the IQ4 150. The CCD ones technically do live view but it's really not go

This is a real vector - I had this happen in undergrad EE where my serial line to my microcontroller had a bunch of legible garbage on it. Turns out my MacBook charger was also using serial to talk to the laptop, with enough power to radiat

This is an amazing project and level of effort, and I empathize deeply with this photographers desire for a clean, simple, beautiful camera. I so deeply want a modern EVF camera, doesn’t even have to be a rangefinder, with a mechanically wo

It’s sorta funny to see one of the companies aiming for terahertz frequencies - long wave IR is only ~30THz.

This is incorrect - they can split however the driving chip supports. (Q|O)SFP(28|56|112|+) can all be split to a single differential lane. All (Q|O)SFP(28|56|112|+) does is provide basically direct, high quality links to whatever you chips
