Direct attached cables - vs. an optics module with fiber that you then plug into it, or an rj45 module you plug a cat 5/6/7 cable into.

Apple also basically never just drops new features without marketing them somewhere. They would have said that best take was coming to iOS 17.1 or something, then rolled out those beta versions with that feature.

I guess it must be, but does the performance per watt make sense going from 350 to 500W? That's a 42% increase in power! I suppose the # of cores per watt per u makes this solution make sense, especially with the 1u cooling overhead, b

Great work and a really useful resource! Comprehensive guides on improving PyTorch performance are pretty hard to come by, and I learned a couple new tricks from this!

That only helps if your dependencies are slower moving targets than whatever research/product you are working on. Otherwise, the dependencies may be different each experiment or attempt. Or whatever cloud provider you use does somethin

Not sure of the relationship between MI300x and MI300, but MI300 is claimed to be 2.2 PFlops FP8 (with structured sparsity, which I did not know AMD was implementing!!!): https://www.amd.com/en/claims/instinct

650 TOPs Is surprisingly low for narrow precision datatypes - I assume they are quoting the fastest performing datatype (Int8 or maybe even lower!). That's on par with an A100, an H100 hits 2 PETA TOPs (4 PTOPs 2:4 sparse!) of Int8!

Were any power and cooling requirements shared? Or more design info? Super curious about the details of this chip!

Interestingly, the Behind the Bastards episodes on him point out that his relationships with women may have been one of the only non-bastard things about him. He was seen as “safe” compared to other men of the time!
