Having done a Techstars program myself, I was also surprised at some of the companies that were allowed in.

I did Techstars in London in 2013 (an early cohort there) after spending a decade in the Bay Area. Back then, it felt like the glue holding the entire program together were the founders themselves and one particularly good Techstars staff m

Am I the only one who never actually types in IRB? I edit directly inside my code and use tmux's send-to-pane to send my current line(s) to IRB. Ex: https://cln.sh/xXNlf51m

I'm not sure exactly the tech community needs to own up to. Allowing an 11 year old who has irresponsible parents to use the internet? Do tech companies need to verify government issued IDs to register new users?

Couldn't this have been any website with a messaging system on it? Twitter, facebook, even email. I don't get how they can sue Omegle for this. Edit: was it because of the video component of Omegle?

Pretty sure you use it because vercel likes the frontend engineers who don't know how/or care to deal with the backend.

Honestly, this is exactly what I want as a technical blogger: - markdown editing - remote asset support (including js components) - seo amarkdown looks great, but I've been using vim. Obsidian points to that folder and I use that for p

Here is a super basic example of running rails code: https://cln.sh/xXNlf51m Now imagine instead of a empty rails shell, I had my server running there and I can set breakpoints. Or why not both a shell and a server?

the author goes in details on why tmux is great, which it is, but fails to mention it's greatest feature: send-keys. I can have my code in pane 0 and my code console running a shell in pane 1, and simply use the send-keys command to ex

I've been using braintree for 9 years on one of my projects, and while it does "work", there doesn't seem to be much innovation happening, sadly. I use them for their direct integration with paypal, who owns them

I would use Fly for hosting servers, but never databases. For this very reason.

Just tagging in for comment OP. Copilot really does work wonderfully for me, as expected with any AI code completion. I run copilot and coc.vim simultaneously, to be noted. So when I just want to autocomplete a word, it'll be coc.vim,

I also don't use fly (yet) because of technical issues they have. They are in a really messy state at the moment. Nevertheless, I'm excited for them and continue to cheer them on until they mature.

Having grown up on Heroku, it's such a breath of fresh air to see companies innovating in this space. Render, Fly are the big ones, but even little one-man shops like Hatchbox are good enough to deploy medium-scale production apps. Kud

As a 20+ year vim user, I love seeing new configs come out still. Although I won't be using Astro because I like my current setup, I really enjoy looking through other people's configs.

IMO this recession is needed. 1. there is company bloat everywhere. Too many people going to work and 'hiding' instead of working. 2. tech is 10x better these days. You can do way more with way less. As for weathering it, tech is
