MSX was really a little too little too late. The BASIC interpreter looks nice and MSX-DOS was CP/M compatible. I can almost imagine a past where something more like MSX2+ came out much sooner and you could program it with Turbo Pasca

It's really nice to see this IAP course! The lectures from last year are great! You really covered a lot for a month, even for MIT students. I keep finding great stuff like, oh yes, they reference Ott for EMI right away in layout.

Analog circuits still have finite bandwidth and rise/response times. The engineering trade-offs are more complicated than the gp presents. The big but mixed advantage of an analog control loop or signal processing chain is "no so

Sure. You can think of a modular synthesizer as a domain-specific analog computer for audio signals.

I didn't see that they said it was non-profit, and besides, non-profit does not mean "no one gets paid". Compare the sale price of any modular synthesizer with a comparable number of gozintas and gozoutas to this and it look

Doesn't appear to be. Wait for the cease-and-desist I guess. The company is https://www.anabrid.com and they also have a very aesthetically appealing "professional" analog computer for teaching and "research

Lode Runner was the first game to impress me with its play mechanics and its level builder. It was really an elegant little game. I don’t think it would make my all time top 10 today but it would probably make a “top 10 to date of release

AirTags get about a year of battery life from a 2033 in moderate/typical use cases, according to Apple. That’s 0.675 Wh (Panasonic 2032) / 1 year = 77 microwatts. Or about 7 joules/ day. That’s a lot to guarantee for produ

Because RF energy harvesting depends on an external energy source - it’s the same reason a crystal radio or solar calculator can keep working as long as it’s illuminated.

Those are claimed numbers and are pretty similar what Atmosic needs as ambient input to their rf harvesting chips. Field strength and antenna aperture/efficiency/size left as an exercise.

Bingo - also in the case of astrology, you had a way for someone who’s smart enough to do astronomical and calendrical calculations for practical purposes to advise in a low-personal-stakes way.
