A trie can efficiently match all routes that start with a prefix. With a hashmap you wouldn't be off any better than a list efficiency wise.

Here's a screencast of a side project that used that technique. The top artists are bound to quadkeys and are loaded via the ontileload event via a websocket. Going to get back into some map work in the next few months and might write

1% is WWWAAAYYY too low. The stack overflow survey in a sibling comment had 30%. Some of us don't love all the baggage that comes with a full IDE.

One of my favorite tricks with leaflet is to tie into the ontileload event. You can index your data by tile id or quadkey and seamlessly load your data in for the specific data that is in view.

GRPC requires http2 which is only supported by ALB and not ELB. Our services are mostly GRPC so lack of ALB means we can't use k8s out of ths box on AWS if that adds any fuel to the fire.

I haven't made it over to Ichiran, but have hesitated over the price. It's $19 for a standard bowl which is pretty ridiculous especially given it's location (Bushwick). That does include tip, but even a soda is $5...

I feel like a lot of their engineering blog posts are patting themselves on the back a bit prematurely. Here's an article I wrote last year about a blog post they put up about their approach to geofencing which I was not particularly i

Smoke shack >> double double animal style. You can give In-N-Out more points on value, but whenever some one says In-N-Out is hands down better better than Shake Shack I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Rust's format macro only takes string literals as a template, so you can't provide a runtime string template. The solution seems to be adding an external templating lib, which seems like overkill for a single template.

At least in the cities I'm familiar with they all seem to be in either clubbing areas or difficult places to get to.

The rankings are a bit more objective than Michelin in the sense that they are generated based on trip data. That being said, check out some of them in cities you are familiar with and see how you feel about them.

I remember seeing the lib a few months ago and thought it was neat. I even went to find the repo and call shenanigans on this post before I looked at the comments. Really cool to see you following up with it.

Agreed, I never really was interested in the history of the region until listening to Dan Carlin's latest series on the Assyrian and Persian Empires. Pretty crazy to think of Herodotus seeing ruins of the Assyrian's and viewing it

Do mean from a design perspective or from a content perspective? From a design perspective, I agree, but clients pay for obnoxious ads and integrated content is hard to produce even with a sea of copy writers.

On the company side, I've only gotten scripted applications which is a bit disheartening. Going to thumb through the "Who wants to be hired" post for November and see if I get any good leads in there.

My thoughts on Yelp is that you are getting the average recommendation instead of exceptional ones because of the law of large numbers.

If you're in one of their cities (NYC,DC,LA and a few others look) into https://www.theinfatuation.com . It's curated instead of crowd sourced and definitely caters to a younger audience.

Pretty neat. I like the idea of using pixel space. They could break it out to tiles to parallelize things instead of handling things globally if that's a bottleneck for them.

Everytime I've tried that I can usually finish the section I'm on, but can't move onto the next one. I've read they used to have an implicit caching behavior, but that hasn't been my experience.

The lyrics were simple and great. I was surprised how much I missed them when they were gone. A Genius partnership would be perfect, but Genius seems to think they're god's gift to Earth so that will probably never happen.
