Not that I doubt that, but how would you even go about measuring such a thing? Obviously, there's a cost to using google version too (DNS lookup + one more point of failure). It would be nice to have real numbers for what percentage of visi

Well, many of us consider paying taxes a civic duty. We actually value the services that the government provides and are willing to pay for them. Even if you don't though, I think you could make a strong argument to vote Democrat purely on

I'm not a huge fan of domain hacks. I would definitely at least try for the .com. If the person hasn't really had much interest in the name, then maybe they'll sell it in the 3-figure price range.

I think that's true, but also Linux on the desktop is the best system for some people right now (me for example). Even if money were no object, like if someone said you can have any Apple system you want, I'd still pick a normal PC with Lin

Who came up with that name? It's terrible. I'm not offended, but I have to say, I think of way worse things when I hear "ghetto testing".

Wouldn't you have to get a signed waiver from everyone? Also, sequencing still isn't actually cheap. The price is dropping quickly and its cost is reasonable for research, but it's not reasonable for "let's sequence everything " (yet)

I'd like complete pricing data for common purchases including both brick and mortar and online retailers. Eventually, I'd like a web site where I could enter my regular purchases (groceries + household goods) and it would tell me the cheape

I sort of agree. Actually, I like companies that give applicants challenges. But usually they are fun and interesting challenges, not "refactor this crappy code". Refactoring bad code is a useful skill, but my guess is that they're going to

Have you ever been in an argument with a spouse/significant other and told them to "calm down"? Did saying that ever make them calm down? Telling someone to "calm down" is pretty much guaranteed to make them even more upset/frustrated. I do

It's because you still have the one down left to try to get a first down, but instead you're giving up on the offensive drive by punting. Also, I wouldn't say that it's completely synonymous with "giving up". It's more like "giving up for n

That may be true, but the simple fact is that it's a lot easier for a large corporation to minimize its taxes than it is for a small business or individual. For example, a company like apple can afford to pay 10 people full time to move aro

I find it interesting that you would put "US debt default" in the category of things likely to happen in the next decade or two. The reason that the US is able to borrow money for practically nothing is that it has never defaulted on debt

I would think that would depend on how much money you started with. You might need to gain a little traction before you even have enough money to buy a premium domain. Even if you do have the money, spending say 5000-10000 on a domain might

Google has ~24 billion in revenue. Twitter is harder to pinpoint but from the sources I've seen it's far less than 50 million. Facebook is somewhere around 400-550 million. I guess my point is that they aren't even in the same stratosphere.
