For checking accounts, I have a list of rules that each transaction passes through. If a rule matches it generates the double-entry transaction going from the checking account to the account listed in the rule (or vice versa if the amount i

I go a step further than this, which is to make the beancount files 100% generated by a program - no manual edits allowed at all. I have a version-controlled directory with the raw data (csvs, pdfs, weird text formats) from a bunch of diffe

Doing all this in an hour is such a good example of how absurdly efficient you can be with LLMs.

Claude code does it, to a precision of 1 digit of a percentage. That’s more than enough to be useful.

As the sibling comment said, the worm used stolen GitHub credentials from other victims, and randomly distributed the uploads between victims. Also everything was double base64 encoded which makes it impossible to use GitHub search.

Given that all the stolen credentials were made public, I was hoping that someone would build a haveibeenpwned style site. We know we were compromised on at least a few tokens, but it would be nice to be able to search using a compromised t

No one in my government has ever done as much harm to me as the people who share your opinion about taking reasonable measures to stop the spread of a deadly disease. The slippery slope claims by the anti-mask people have entirely failed to

My guess is that it’s because there’s a lot of very negative comments about Brazil in that article. Trying to grade people for their opinions on a topic like that gets into dangerous territory.

For the first one, the compiler should not allow the mutable list to be assigned to a more broadly typed mutable list. This is a compile error in kotlin, for example val items: MutableList<Int> = mutableListOf(3) val brokenI

If you're keeping all the generated clocks in a database, I'd love to see a Facemash style spin-off website where users pick the best clock between two options, with a leaderboard. I want to know what the best clock Qwen ever made

My mother fell for exactly this. Downloaded a ChatGPT clone and paid for it. She was quite upset with herself when I had to tell her. Until now I blamed Google, but now it seems much more likely that it was Apple’s fault.

Visiting China will shake your world view as a westerner. It did mine. I’m still grateful at a personal level to live in a democracy, but I’m not as certain as I used to be that it’s the only way to run a country that benefits the people. T
