The most embarrassing part of that article is the comment section. Not a single dissenting voice.

I’ve been frustrated by this for years, you just know that if there was a mobile data deadzone on a motorway they’d fix it immediately. Meanwhile on the train 30 miles from London, nothing.

Just to play devil’s advocate, I have found prediction markets genuinely useful despite never placing a bet. In 2024 all of my social media feed was convinced the US election was going to go the other way. I have left wing politics and acco

The em dashes are the only thing making it look AI-written. I think it was human written by someone who likes em dashes.

Heavy use of /rewind helps with this - it's much better to remove the bad information from the context entirely instead of trying to tell the model "actually, ignore the previous approach and try this instead"

This was my experience too. The USA is the only country I've ever been to where random strangers will strike up a conversation with me completely out of the blue, and I've travelled quite a lot.

Using the source code to ask questions about poorly documented features in projects you have no experience is my favourite thing that LLMs make possible (of course you could do this before but it would take way, way more time). There are so

Investor confidence is far more important to them than cashflow, and the best way to shake investor confidence is with the magic words "user numbers are down".

I don’t really understand the point of sandboxing if you’re going to give it access to all your accounts (which it needs to do anything useful). It reminds me of https://xkcd.com/1200/

it'll be interesting to see if people start writing worse as a form of countersignalling. deliberately making spleling mistakes, not caring about capital letters, or punctuation or grammar or proper writing techniques and making really

That's irrelevant in the context of GitHub Actions: CI runners clone the repo fresh every run. If someone gets write access to a widely used action, they can force push all tags to point to a malicious commit. This is even in GitHub&#x

That’s fair, but GitHub themselves do it with GitHub Actions. Versioning of all official actions is done with git tags, which has always made me uncomfortable.

Do you know about *? It puts the word currently under the cursor into the search history. So you can do *ciw, type your replacement, then n.n.n. to do the rest. Obviously LSPs are more powerful though.

There was a fun hacker news post a while back [0] about a website that had generated every solvable-without-backtracking 5x5 nonogram. I found it very addictive, and the creator has since released it as a paid mobile app. Highly recommended

I really didn’t expect to get a new favourite game of all time in my 30s, surely the nostalgia factor was too strong, but Outer Wilds was exactly that for me.

The bug-free code one feels unfalsifiable to me. How do you prove that 10,000 lines of code is bug-free, and then there's a million caveats about what a bug actually is and how we define one. The second claim about novels seems obvious
