My dad had his phone stolen a couple months ago. He bought a used one of Craigslist to replace it. I'm curious if the new shinies will make him want to upgrade. If it was just iPhone 14, revision 4, I doubt he would care.

I have an Anker battery and a Peak Design case. The wireless battery just slows the drain unless my phone is totally idle while charging. I really don't think wireless charging is very effective, at least it hasn't been with my 3y

Killer whales have a particular significance to Portuguese sailors. There's a group of whales off the coast of Portugal who have a lot of fun fucking up boats. They'll knock the rudder off a boat, potentially sinking it, for spor

The "Signal should exist" part of me is happy to donate $2/mo to help them keep the lights on, but I really did expect that to be an option alongside Drive/Dropbox/et al, not the only option.

When we were kids, my dad felt like he was always the last one to buy into the stock market. He would buy, it would peak, and then it would crater. I was gonna buy in when the tariff shock hit, but it started to rebound before I got in. T

As a lifelong Mac user, that's my mental model of that key. It's still the layout Apple uses in the US: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MXK83LL/A/magic-keyboard-...

Honestly, I'm tempted to see if Gemini can write a Sublime Text plugin that implements this protocol. Feels like a lot of mindshare has shifted towards VSCode, so that's where the tooling investment goes. I don't want to be f
