Bet they also use non-powered hand tools and hammers with wooden handles. Savages.

A surprisingly advanced concept for the 80s, and from the USSR no less. I take it half (or none) of those peripherals didn't work or were really bad? Like, I can say the flat speakers using the tech available at the time would've

Well, I'm saying that because people don't even realize they need to treat the road somewhat like a car driver. Like, literally, they install the app and get on the scooter and do 20km/h on the opposite side then are surprise

I am actually volunteering at two repair shops ran by charities, teaching kids and refugees how to fix their own bikes. It's great, though the adults are not very keen on riding everywhere :D Also, thanks HN for rate limiting me withou

You joking? I have used a tram twice in the past six months. I bike 25km to work and back every day and anywhere I need to go. And I love it even more without the scorching heat. I've not felt this good physically in a decade, great fr

*teenagers who fall. Really could've been reduced by a lot with a few simple instructions in the app. Stick to the right, don't speed, be careful, etc. Who the fuck falls off a scooter, anyway.

I've been told to quarantine because I had COVID symptoms. From the vaccine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So does any other virus. Not to sound like a Covid braindamaged idiot here (from getting infected, cured, then getting a vaccine), but this kind of "news" won't help raise vaccination rates. Either deny hospitalization to unv

You got me with this one. Actually threatening someone directly is worse than being an antivaxxer... Guess that's my cutoff point? Just shoot me in the head, I'm sick of this world.

Yeah, like I said, wouldn't trust them. Why Parler didn't use a "normal" hosting provider, I don't know.

They also take down content of people who threaten to kill themselves. Out of sight, out of mind, amirite? When they come for your honest thoughts, no one will be there to save you. Platforms should be neutral. But it's kinda nice

This better not get to hosting providers or it all goes to shit. Sure, big platforms censoring stuff is bad, but people still have the choice of renting a server and hosting whatever they want. If your website, hosted on a dedicated machine

Yeah, so every unsubscribe link I tried led to a page that's convoluted (likely on purpose, like GDPR cookies) and it was hard to actually unsubscribe. That was quite a while ago tbf. Since then, I just mark everything as spam. I just

GMail's mark as spam feature has become "report spam". Meaning, you just report something as spam to Google. They decide what it actually is. And indeed, it works perfectly. I've marked Twitter/Facebook/Amazon&

I've seen those before on American houses, I always thought they were rather cute design choices... not fake shutters. Can't unsee it now :D

I'm just here trying to understand what a "shitty cut" even means. For me, it's all meat. Some tastes better than other. But the baseline is "good". The old animal meat (from milk cows and goats, and egg hens)

The UPS would be a passthrough battery pack, after the PSU but before the PC components, for maximum efficiency. Yeah, there's no space in a PSU, but a PSU-sized battery pack would power a ~500W PC for about 5-10 minutes (at full load)

This makes me wonder, would a PC case with a built-in Li-Ion UPS sell well? I don't experience the problems the other 2 users here have, btw. And there's 3 pages to the review (I thought it ended abruptly) :D

That doesn't quite make sense. You're basically paying for the land in many European cities, too, so how is the price of the building an important factor? It's the land that's very expensive.

Yeah I noticed the ads(?) at the bottom with the price. ~150 Euros for a square meter? Damn. It's probably cheaper in China/Asia, but not here lol

I've been looking into this lately. Seems like it would not be that hard to set up a factory in Eastern Europe somewhere to produce cells. They won't be top of the line, but still useful and profitable, given that the best cells
