How many dozens of Twitter NLP companies for tracking brands are there? Twitter should buy their favorite, and offer brand reinforcement and steal-away ads. Better already.

You are very right. But, why not start simple and just lump people in broad categories based on follows. Jessica follows a lot of celebrities. Bryan follows lots of tech icons. Billy follows lots of comedians. Etc. Etc. Even that isn't eas

Targeted ads are so obvious that I don't understand why they haven't implemented it. Google did it successfully. Facebook did it successfully. In fact, if someone would have said to me a year ago "Twitter will totally ignore their massive p

Well, at this point, perhaps it needed to be said. Reddit isn't vital to anyone's well being, but it is a service that hundreds of thousands (?) use pretty regularly, so it certainly isn't trivial either. How is he hurting the situation by

On that note, I have been meaning to ask HN (even if nothing more than an exercise)... If you had to run a site like Reddit, what would you do?

I think 20 articles a month is actually quite fair, this covers most of the uses cases of reading an article because X linked to it. It is a happy middle ground. I wish them the best of luck, although I don't think it will work out.

I totally agree, but we're on different wavelengths here. I've always had the impression that launching was the first thing you did, and progress was what happened after that. And then there is that whole thing about results ...

Is that "Optimizing Performance" message the bouncing of an untouched track to an audio file instead of rendering it in real-time? Most software packages have that "lock track" function.

I think that in the beginning you really have to redefine success as: "Am I Making Progress?" After lots and lots of progress and zero results, then you are probably on the verge of failure.

I've never had it crash, just odd bugs where this or that wouldn't work or wouldn't load. You know, the irritating stuff... ;-)

I used to be a paid Mixpanel user with several accounts. I liked it but it bothers me that you guys don't break the mold any more than traditional analytics did. Why can't I just choose any random set of events as a funnel and view the brea

I've been thinking about building an analytics package geared towards SaaS. I've found it very difficult to track different types of users and their associated revenue in tradition analytics packages (GA, GetClicky, even MixPanel). I've alw

Spot on advice, and a valid rebuttal. My trifecta was more in the spirit of securing against hundreds of brute force attempts, but I can't really knock your excellent advice.

I've spent a lot of time dabbling with digital audio (especially recording) and my limited experience with Linux audio setups were difficult to say the least. Now, this may be changing with Ubuntu Studio, but unfortunately a majority of com

I was super surprised at how well SASS let me move quickly with coding 3pics.me! The lighten, darken and mix functions make getting appropriate hex codes pain free. Wonderful!

The fakepath thing is a Chrome thing it seems. Dunno why it is like that. I thought about extra random numbers, but security through obscurity just never rang true to me. Thanks for the feedback though! Hoping to get a little more traction

I guess I'm in the minority, but I still have a hard time taking an iPad and getting the function I want out of a tablet. At this time and for me, it is still more or less an extra toy that I can overlook. However, I understand how well it

I've used icon finder hundreds of times. It's great. I am also a fan of the Fugue icon set ( http://p.yusukekamiyamane.com/ ) with over 3000 (!) super high quality icons. There is a licensing fee if you don't want to attribute but it is pre

I think it all boils down to levels of tech-savvyness. My mother wouldn't know where to start with a VNC what-you-ma-call-it, but by clicking a button that says "See your desktop and files" makes Apple awesome. Besides, I think there is som

Sounds like something you could have fixed with another, slightly randomized factor: "attention-span". Long boughts of straight flying would result in an increasingly large but seemingly random delay. Cool sounding use case though!

I'm not advocating that, I'm just saying that the "independent confirmation" tells us little about the innocent sites that get negatively affected. They are, by definition, excluded.

Not to nitpick, but... If you take the top several dozen or so most-blocked domains from the Chrome extension, then this algorithmic change addresses 84% of them, which is strong independent confirmation of the user benefits.
