You are right, but this is exactly how Apple works. Start with very few features and polish to a pristine sheen. Then add new features and proclaim the world is changing. It certainly has been working for them, and generally, isn't that the

From my understanding, its not a md5 hash or equivalent. Its just encoding the 64 bits to a "hash" thus allowing a fuzzy comparison between hashes. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Obviously, this isn't robust enough to find all matches. A

Absolutely wild. Revenue was almost as much in Q1 2011 as it was in all year in 2010 ($645m vs. $713m) with a 20,000% revenue growth since June 200. They are hoping to raise "close to $1 billion at a valuation of about $20 billion." [1] And

I feel like Planet Money (as much as I love them) kind of missed the point with their podcast, and it was nice to see Jonathan run with it. This is indeed the future of music. Fragmentation. From major labels, to indie labels, to individual

I've often wondering what would happen to populations if/when gerontology researchers like Aubrey de Grey do find a way to delay death from old age or even stop it completely. Would a replacement rate of 2 just result in an ever increasing

People find it fun to take and share stylized photos with friends. Someone thinks that form of expression and socializing is fundamentally flawed. Pretentious blog post ensues. Nothing gained. Get off my lawn.

That is just the Google way it seems. Try getting help for an Adwords/Adsense issue and you get the same nonsense. Sorry Google, not matter how hard you try, good customer never scales as easy as you'd like.

I totally agree, but the problem is that not giving animals those anti-biotics is bad in a pragmatic sense as well. For example, let's say you don't give cattle antibiotics anymore. Cattle destined for production are generally tightly packe

Reading this reminded me of some of the parallels one can make between writing and jazz. Ask any jazz musician and they will say that there are tons of "rules" and "suggestions" for what to play over specific harmonic movements. This is imp
